Drug Rehab for Wyoming
ON THIS PAGE

Wyoming is one of the last true frontier states in the U.S. For each square mile in the state, there’s only an average of 5.5 residents. Much of the landscape is scrubby grassland, and there are only a few spots in the state where people gather in significant communities. A person living in Wyoming needs to be capable of caring for himself (or herself) to a considerable degree. When it comes to needing help to recover from addiction, that help could be a long ways away.
The Narconon Drug Rehab Program Can Help Those in Wyoming
There are two centers located just short flights away that can help those who’ve lost their way due to alcohol or drugs. In Fort Collins, Narconon Colorado offers anyone in the western states a comfortable place to learn how to achieve sobriety. And in Canadian, Oklahoma, Narconon Arrowhead is situated in a state park overlooking the largest lake in the state. This large rehab facility has helped more than 10,000 people since its doors opened more than 20 years ago.
The program is identical in both locations. Manuals, video training, and staff training ensure a consistency of delivery.
The first step of the Narconon Program is the Drug-Free Withdrawal.
A person needing medication for a physical condition would, of course, continue that medication on the advice of his physician, and we also work with medical detox services where it is medically necessary that a person is stepped down from their current level of drug use—as is often the case with benzodiazepines and alcohol. The goal is to safely help the person with the steps they need to take to live a truly drug-free life.
Following any medical wean down required, a person is now ready for the drug-free withdrawal at Narconon. How do we make a drug-free withdrawal tolerable? First, each person is supplied with generous doses of nutritional supplements that either aid the body in detoxification or calm the symptoms that result. Calcium, magnesium, B vitamins, vitamin C, and others help during this time. Gentle actions called assists further calm both physical and mental symptoms of withdrawal. As a result, many people say it is the most tolerable withdrawal process they have ever experienced.
A Deep, Sauna-Based Detox Follows

Saunas have been used for nearly a thousand years to improve health and enable the body to eliminate toxins. At Narconon, time in a sauna is combined with a precise regimen of nutritional supplements and moderate exercise to activate the body’s ability to flush out drug toxins stored deep in the tissues. As former drug users wash out residues from past drug or alcohol consumption, they talk about how much brighter their outlooks are and how their cravings no longer plague them. Some people say they stop waking up from dreams about using drugs which is a relief to them.
With this brightening of viewpoint, it’s easier to begin the task of building a life that will enable them to maintain sobriety once they get home.
Overcoming Guilt, Restoring Integrity
To even have a chance of a happy life after rehab, a person must learn how to make sober choices, recover their integrity and find relief from guilt. Sober choices start with having friends and associates that support their sobriety. The first life skill training course a person tackles teaches them about those people in their pasts who led them in the direction of drugs, alcohol, and self-destruction. Removing these individuals and others like them from their futures protects their hard-earned sobriety.

Next, an individual learns about integrity and overcoming guilt. Every person starting out in recovery carries a burden of guilt. After all, they have harmed themselves, those they love and their communities. They’ve committed acts they would never have committed if they had not been addicted. When they are no longer taking drugs or drinking excessively, their anguish over the past can make them miserable unless they learn how to shed that guilt. On the Personal Values Life Skills course, this is exactly what they do. Finally leaving the guilt behind is a great relief.
Challenging situations in life can tempt one to return to drug abuse to avoid upsets or disappointments. The final life skills training course teaches each person exactly how they can repair relationships or correct problems they may have left behind. Then, with the guidance of Narconon staff, these lessons are put to work developing a plan to go back to work, back to school and back to sober living.

Substance Abuse Patterns in Wyoming
In Wyoming, youth drink more and smoke more but use fewer illicit drugs than other U.S. teens. When they start using intoxicants, it’s normally alcohol, with marijuana next in line and prescription drugs being the drug of initiation for a small number. In fact, the number of adolescents abusing prescription drugs has been falling the last few years. Only about 4% of teens abuse pills, a slightly lower number than the national average.
Among adults, more people are abusing or dependent on alcohol than the national average. This dependence results in alcohol being the top drug sending people to rehab programs. After all, alcohol is readily available across the state while illicit drugs need to be trucked in thousands of miles. Even in tiny Ranchester, population 855, there are two bars and one liquor store.
In second place, methamphetamine and marijuana are pretty close to tied. Prescription drugs send fewer people to rehab but the number is gradually increasing. Nearly every year for the last decade, between 5,000 and 6,000 people enter rehab. Less than 15% of those needing rehab in the state will find the help they need.
