Stories from Narconon Arrowhead Graduates

The following are stories from our Narconon Arrowhead graduates. We thought you might appreciate seeing how the Narconon program can totally change a person’s life around and enable them to live a drug-free life. Here are some reviews from our graduates:

Lou’s Story

This Narconon graduate describes “the guilt feeling of how I hurt my family and of course, how I hurt myself” that kept him trapped in his addiction. Lou described his life before drug rehab by saying, “I felt lost, I felt depressed, down and out and basically hopeless. The only way to get out of the guilt feeling and depression was to use more drugs.” Each time he went back to using cocaine, he wouldn’t feel the guilt or depression anymore, but of course, he was continuing to destroy himself and his relationships.

man feeling guilty

This is a common trap for those who become addicted. Depression and guilt are natural results of abusing drugs. There is a physical effect of the depletion and toxicity from the drugs themselves that can help cause depression, and it is understandable also that a person would feel depressed when his (or her) life is crumbling around him.

Guilt results from the harm one does to oneself and others. Every act of buying more drugs, of using the money that should benefit the family or the business for drugs instead creates more guilt. But of course, that next use of cocaine, heroin, marijuana, alcohol or prescription drugs seems to make that guilt go away.

Finally, his family insisted that he find help. It wasn’t easy for him to make the decision to go to rehab, but when he did, it was a complete turning point for him. When he went through withdrawal at Narconon and got clean, it was the first time he had been free from drugs for more than a few days at a time in several years. As he proceeded through the rest of the Narconon drug rehab program, he had a chance to flush out the old drug toxins that could contribute to cravings and depression on the Narconon New Life Detoxification, one phase of the overall recovery program. In the life skills phase of the recovery program, Lou found relief from the guilt of the past and learned how to repair the relationships that were damaged by addiction. When he graduated, he finally was able to proudly say, “Narconon has given me a new life. My family loves me and I love my family.”

Amanda’s Story

After repeated injuries, Amanda became addicted to her pain medications. Use gradually turned into abuse and she relied on prescription fraud to support her addiction when her doctor cut her off.

When Amanda became a prescription drug abuser, she joined seven million other Americans in this habit. And like most others in this situation, the abuse of opiates resulted in a deterioration of her health, relationships, and personal integrity.

She was well on her way to losing everything when she found the Narconon program. As she completed this drug rehab program, she found a way to finally turn her life around. Amanda states: “My life was in ruins, my house was being taken away, I hadn’t talked to my family in over five years. If I wasn’t on pills, then I was going through withdraws. It got unmanageable. Now that I have completed the Narconon program, I feel really confident that I can use the tools that were given to me and not go back and use again. And that’s the first time I have felt that way in probably over ten years.”

After completing the Narconon program, Amanda returned to the work she loved—training horses. Like many other Narconon graduates, she found that once she had the tools she needed to face the challenges life presents, she was able to deal with them successfully and maintain her sobriety.

Gena’s Story

Gena was in the process of losing everything to her cocaine habit when she arrived at Narconon. She said, “I’ve been a cocaine user for twenty-five years, off and on. I would try to quit but I never could quit on my own. I’ve been to several rehabs. It was constant turmoil around the house, either with my parents, my children, my husband, whoever. My relationships were all strained because of my drug use.”

Because the rehabs Gena went to did not address the true causes of addiction, she was not able to stay clean afterward and so would return to drug use. Sometimes, the cravings for more drugs don’t let a person stay sober for long after they finish a rehab and return home. And sometimes it is some life event that is too difficult to face that causes a person to escape into drugs again.

Gena was far from being alone in her attraction to this drug. In 2009, nearly 200,000 Americans were admitted to drug treatment with cocaine being their primary problem. However, since the current trend in substance abuse is polydrug use—for example, using heroin and cocaine together or abusing alcohol and cocaine at the same time—many more people are trapped in abusing cocaine than the treatment statistic might indicate.

In 2010, nearly four million people were current cocaine users, meaning they had used the drug in the prior month. This is a drug that is, for some, can be highly addictive. Cocaine also places intense stress upon the body each time it is used, especially the cardiovascular system. This creates the risk of heart attack or cardiac arrest among those who use the drug.

After she completed the Narconon program, Gena reported, “My relationship with my kids now is great. They are proud of how far I have come. They really feel like we are on the road to recovery. My life is back on track. I have more self-confidence than I have had in years and years and years and a lot more self-respect. I feel like I have accumulated a lot of skills that I can go out there and use in life.” Her new life skills served Gena well as she returned to life after drug rehab, using those skills to stay sober for the long term.

Saving Addicted Lives for Over Fifty Years

group of healthy happy people

No one ever plans to become an addict. Good people lose control and entire families can be damaged or destroyed by drug abuse and addiction. Addiction to drugs or alcohol creates hopelessness and lost dreams. So many times addiction leads to crime and violence. Early death can be the final chapter in an addicted life. However, there is an effective way to deal with drug and alcohol addiction.

Narconon Arrowhead, a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation center a short drive from Tulsa, Oklahoma, produces drug-free lives. This rehab offers the same successful program that Narconon provides the world over, addressing why a person turned to drugs as a solution. Narconon has been saving addicted lives around the world for five decades.

When a person comes to Narconon, he receives drug-free rehabilitation, with no substitute medications used as a method of treatment. When a person requires a medical detox due to the use of heavy alcohol or drugs such as benzos, he would complete this before starting the drug-free withdrawal in the Narconon program. Here, nutritional therapy helps to restore depleted nutrients from an addicted lifestyle. This assists the body and mind in better tolerating the difficulties in withdrawal.

sauna for new life detox

Another powerful part of the Narconon rehabilitation is the New Life Detoxification. Here, with the use of daily exercise, time in a sauna and vitamin and mineral supplements, the recovering addict recovers a clear body and mind as toxic drug residues are flushed from his body.

The final phase of the program prepares the participant for a new drug-free life where he (or she) can now control his own life and break free of the need for illegal drug use. This last part of the program consists of several Life Skills courses. Someone who has been addicted has commonly lost the ability to deal with his problems. He feels guilt from the harmful actions he has done. These courses teach the recovering person the tools he will need to be able to live happily and achieve his dreams, shedding the guilt that weighs him down.

Those who finish the program are enthusiastic about the changes in their lives. One girl who finished the program at Narconon Arrowhead commented, “The program just saved my life. And thanks to the Narconon program, I’m a better daughter.” Another young man was smiling broadly as he said, “I feel great since I’ve completed the program. Life is wonderful. The relationship with my family is excellent. I love waking up every morning.”

Compare an addict’s emotional and physical numbness with one girl who completed the Narconon program and said, “Since I finished the Narconon program, I feel like I have a new confidence and there’s nothing I can’t achieve. I feel new again.”

When a loved one has become one of those good people who lose control and has addiction destroying his life, help is available at Narconon Arrowhead. Changing lives and putting families back together is one of the best aspects of recovery from drug or alcohol addiction.

Giving Addicts Back Their Lives

mother hugging son

An addict caught in the grip of his (or her) addiction does not think clearly. His calls for help are usually weak. His decision to get help for the addiction can be here today but be gone tomorrow. It is usually up to family or friends to take matters into their own hands to get the addicted person into rehab.

Once an effective rehab program is found, the addict can truly achieve lasting recovery. Narconon is just such a drug and alcohol rehab program. With a highly effective treatment model, Narconon can turn an addict’s life around and put him back in control of his life and future. The steps of Narconon recovery give the person the ability to remain drug-free and live an ethical and productive life.

Heather told of her success at Narconon. “I feel what the Narconon program has given back to me is this: Heather is back!“ She laughed. “The rest of it is being able to stay in today and go forward. I know that I’m not always going to be an addict and an alcoholic—that I am Heather and that I won’t have to use drugs or alcohol ever again.”

Narconon does not subscribe to the theory that addiction is an incurable disease. Addicts can and do recover on the Narconon rehab program and go on to achieve their goals and dreams, never needing to turn to drugs or alcohol again. As one person said who finished the program, “Now I can look at something and I know whether I’m right or wrong about it, because of the technology I’ve learned here. It takes the stress off of living. I live a happier life now because I have what it takes to make the right decisions.“

This Narconon graduate was talking about the life skills training each recovering addict receives as the final step. The education received in this series of courses is invaluable, not only immediately after the person finishes the program, but for his entire life. The knowledge and tools learned prepare the recovering addict to live a fulfilling life, knowing he can accomplish whatever he sets his mind to.

Those who finished the program have made comments such as, “I know now that I am in control. I have the power to make decisions, to do the right thing. I don’t have to be a slave to my desires or to my past. I can do what I want to do.” And another: “My future was a graveyard as an addict. I would have died and been done for. And now, I have no limits. I can do whatever I set my mind to.”

Some of the courses in the life skills training lineup include the Ups and Downs in Life Course where the student learns how to recognize characteristics of people who will support his sober lifestyle. The Objectives Course is where the recovering individual learns how to communicate effectively and through a series of exercises is able to brighten his perceptions and ability to focus on the present.

Many of those who have finished the program talk about leaving with their head held high, looking forward to the future. Perhaps the most emotional testimony is what one young man said: “I lost my best friend about ten years ago, and I found him again. That was me.” Narconon is so proud to give these people back their lives.

These graduates completed the program at Narconon Arrowhead.

Leaving Behind a Life of Slavery to Addiction

Amanda

The pain of addiction becomes slavery—slavery of chasing the drug every single day. The addict doesn’t care about anybody else but himself. And who suffers? The addict suffers but so do his family, friends and all who love him. Amanda experienced the misery of addiction. She knows how everyone around her was being destroyed in many ways while her life became a horrible mess.

Amanda said, “My life was in ruins. I had pretty much lost everything. My house was being taken away. My relationships with my family had deteriorated. I hadn’t talked to them in over five years. If I wasn’t on pills, I was going through withdrawal. It was just awful. I stayed in bed for weeks on end. I was in and out of emergency rooms. It was just unmanageable.”

There is a place that can give an addict back the freedom he needs and the ability to feel again. That place is Narconon. Amanda found this effective drug and alcohol rehabilitation center and changed her life. The Narconon rehab program is unlike any other kind of rehab available today. With a tolerable withdrawal, a sauna detoxification to flush out residual drugs, and training in life skills, this program provides the path to lasting recovery.

Amanda commented on the withdrawal that gave her hope in being able to leave drugs behind. “When I first got to Narconon, they took me into withdrawal. The staff were really caring. They make you feel really good about what you are doing. After about three days, I noticed I was laughing. I was done within five days. By the time I was out of withdrawal, I already felt a huge improvement from when I walked in.”

The Narconon Life Skills Courses are a key part of the program. These courses provide the knowledge and tools a recovering addict needs to be a success in his new life without drugs. Amanda said, “I started seeing a big change during the courses after the sauna program. On the Personal Values Course, I got to write down all the wrongs I had done to myself, my family and everyone around me. It made me realize how I had affected everyone else. It wasn’t just the pills affecting me and taking me down. I was taking my whole family down and my job and everybody who loved me.”

Amanda expressed her happiness since completing the program. She said that she now feels confident and can use all the tools provided so she can be successful and never use drugs again. She hadn’t felt that way in ten years. She said, “I really felt that I was just a slave to the drugs and I was never going to get out of it. Now I feel so confident and excited to get back out there and regain the trust of my family and just succeed without drugs.

Narconon makes some big changes in the life of an addict. Thousands of addicted lives are saved using these innovative and successful methods of recovery from drug or alcohol addiction.

Amanda graduated from Narconon Arrowhead.

Leaving the Addicted Past Behind and Starting a New Life

An addict is usually quite blind to his or her surroundings. The only thing that drives his existence is the next pill or drink. Drugs and alcohol block off perceptions and destroy the ability to communicate effectively. Anyone who has observed an addict can see the struggle he is going through. Everything he does and everything he thinks has to do with the intense cravings for drugs or alcohol. Amy knows how this goes as her life was headed down this same dark path.

Narconon Arrowhead testimony - photo of Amy R

She describes her addiction: “I was a coke addict for twenty-seven years. My life revolved around cocaine. Things were totally out of control. I had lost all my healthy relationships. I had nothing. And I ended up going to prison and did a lot of time in there.”

Amy had been in many drug rehab programs through the years. When she found Narconon Arrowhead, she had her doubts. But she went to Narconon because she was really ready for a change.

Amy told of her start on the program. “I went to withdrawal. I was in there for three or four days. I was trying to get my head together. Everyone helping me was very accommodating, caring and they made me feel totally welcome and comfortable.” After withdrawal, she progressed onto the sauna-based detoxification program. This is where drug residues that have lodged in the body’s tissues are flushed out.

After the Narconon New Life Detoxification, the participant does an innovative step, where, instead of any kind of group therapy, he studies a series of courses with materials that help him come to the realization of how he ended up where he is now—in rehab. The information is presented in text, examples, drills, and exercises which make the study materials easy to apply to daily life. The student learns things that will be useful to him for the rest of his life.

The part of the program that Amy said helped her the most was the Objectives Course. The exercises in this course help the student become oriented to the present environment. Amy said, “As a drug addict, I stayed stuck in my past. I stayed feeling guilty and ashamed or angry about things I had done and the way I had treated people. I continued to feel bad about the things I had allowed myself to do. That is what kept me getting high. On the Objectives Course, I was made more aware of my surroundings. I didn’t have to be that person anymore.

She added, “Now that I’m done with the Narconon program, I feel very uplifted and I feel confident. I feel focused. I feel like I got my life back. I got my family back. I am strong.“ Narconon Graduates state things like this all the time. Their lives are changed. Narconon heals addicted lives every day all around the world.

Finding a Comprehensive Approach to Recovery from Addiction

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Aubre
Aubre—Narconon Graduate

When many addicts enter a conventional rehabilitation program, they are often taught that they will be addicts for the rest of their lives. This can make the addicted person feel that there is no way out of the trap of his addiction. Hopelessness deepens when he fails at numerous attempts at rehab. Depression results as he loses friends and the trust of his family. Guilt comes about as the cravings drive him to do things he would never do as a sober person. Aubre didn’t think there was a way out for her until she found a real solution to her addiction.

She described her life as an addict. “When I started using heroin I really went downhill, especially when I started shooting it. At that point, I could no longer maintain the same lifestyle I had up to that point. My family relationships went downhill. I stopped talking to my mom, my father, and my grandparents.”

Then she found Narconon. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehab program is a comprehensive program addressing both the mental and physical effects of addiction. The program is designed not only to get the addicted person off drugs and get the drug residues removed from his body but also to prepare the individual to go back home and live a happy life without drugs.

Aubre commented, “When I first got here, I didn’t think that the program was going to work. I had been addicted to drugs for so long that I didn’t think that was ever going to change. But now I don’t have the desire to use drugs anymore.”

The drug-free withdrawal gets the person through the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms in relative comfort, with plenty of nutritional support and help from the staff. This follows any medical detox that might be needed for heavy alcohol use or drugs such as benzodiazepines. The Narconon New Life Detoxification is a sauna-based detox which eliminates drug residues from the body’s tissues where they accumulate and remain, even lingering for years after a person stops using drugs. Through repeated periods of sweating in a sauna, daily moderate exercise and a generous supply of vitamins and minerals, these toxic residues are flushed from the system. Most people talk about how much more energy they have afterward and how much more clearly they can think.

Aubre commented on the detox. “The sauna part of the program was really good for me. I started having a lot more physical energy. I started being happier. I felt like I wasn’t as slow. Mainly I had more energy than I ever had before in my life.

The last step of the program consists of life skills training. There are a series of six courses, each covering vital materials that a recovering addict needs to maintain a sober life. The student also often discovers the reason he or she ended up addicted to drugs or alcohol. Finding the reason helps the person avoid making the same mistake again. As the recovering addict moves through these courses, she sheds the guilt that he often carries from the harmful acts committed during a life of addiction. She learns responsibility and gets her life back in control.

Narconon is the full package for recovery. No stone is left unturned. The Narconon program is the best choice in drug and alcohol rehabs around. Aubre found that out and is happy she is now on the right path, completely drug-free.

A Ten-Year Addict Gets Back His Life

Barret Narconon grad

An addict is not the same person he (or she) was before he began using drugs or alcohol. Addiction affects every aspect of a life, from personal values and self-esteem to future goals and family relationships. Barret experienced the worst that life could deal out in the ten years he spent as an addict.

He said, “Through my drug use I had lost track of my own principles and thoughts of who I really am. For ten years I lost track of who I was. I had been down and out for so long.”

When Barret found the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, he found a way to turn his life around. With the Narconon rehab treatment lineup, he discovered the right way to come off drugs and to learn life skills that would help him far into the future in his life endeavors.

On the Narconon withdrawal phase, an addict is assisted in the withdrawal from his drug through nutritional support, one-on-one work with trained staff and unique relaxation techniques that make the withdrawal as comfortable as possible. Barret said, “When I first got here, the staff were really nice to me, explaining what the process was going to be. They were considerate of my cares, my needs, and my wants. When I got to withdrawal, they made sure I was getting nourished. They got me feeling better about myself.”

The next phase addresses the physical dependency on drugs or alcohol. The Narconon New Life Detoxification uses sauna time, moderate exercise and a certain proportion of vitamins and minerals to flush out residual drugs stored in the tissues of the body. These residues can remain for years unless eliminated and are known to be associated with the activation of drug cravings. Many say that once they finish this sauna portion of the program, they feel brighter, more clear-thinking and their drug cravings are greatly reduced.

The next phase of the Narconon program is life skills training where the recovering addict goes on an adventure of self-discovery. Through the courses, he learns many things about himself and he can come to his own conclusions as to why he ended up addicted to drugs. Building life and coping skills is important to going back home once you complete Narconon program and being able to maintain a drug-free life from there on. He can also learn to restore relationships damaged through his addiction and build toward his future.

Barret said, “About halfway through the program I started to see changes in myself, in my personality, and the way I treated people. This program showed me that you need to be the best for other people, to be productive and contribute to everybody. It made me want to become a better person.”

He continued. “When I finally finished the program I was on cloud nine. I felt like I got myself back again. While doing the program I constantly became a better person, became myself again—the Barret that I was when I was sixteen. This was the guy who would open the doors and pull out chairs for girls, instead of the guy who would ignore people and hide in his room. I grew as a person here. I became a great man again, the person I wanted to be. Now I feel I’m back and I can conquer anything and I can have anything that I want in my life.”

This is what the Narconon program is all about—giving an addict back his life and his future.

Barret completed the Narconon drug rehab program in Oklahoma.

A Family Finally Back Together Again

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Beverly

Addiction brings a family so much despair. When a husband or wife is addicted to drugs or alcohol, the spouse and the children suffer greatly. They never know what might happen to their loved one. Beverly describes what happened to her and her two children when her husband was caught in the trap of addiction. She said, “Before my husband got help with his addiction, life was a complete wreck. I never knew if he was going to be at home. When he was there, he really wasn’t, and we never knew how long he was going to stay.” This can tear a family apart and often does.

When Beverly’s husband found Narconon and entered the program, she suddenly had hope as she saw big changes occur. Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program designed to provide lasting recovery from addiction. This effective treatment program has a long list of successes in giving addicts back their lives, and giving families back their loved ones. With a tolerable withdrawal, a sauna-based detox that flushes out toxins and residual drugs in the body and comprehensive life skills training, this program gives an addict the best chance at a drug-free life.

Addicts normally don’t eat properly or regularly and don’t usually sleep well. Throughout the Narconon program, the recovering addict is provided generous nutritional support. This helps build up a body depleted of so many essential nutrients from an addicted lifestyle and helps them feel better physically. The sauna-based detox also helps the recovering person feel brighter and more alert as, without the residual poisons in his system, he (or she) will feel more clear-headed and refreshed.

Beverly said, “While my husband was at Narconon, through each step of the program there were pretty big changes with each part. With the sauna, he physically started feeling a lot better and being more active. The biggest change was about midway through the program. He called and he totally didn’t sound like the same guy he was when he left. He was happy. You could see his smile through the sound of his voice. I knew at that point this program was totally going to work for him.

Life and coping skills are necessary for a recovering addict, as when he goes back home, he will be facing many of the same situations he faced before using drugs and which could have contributed to starting substance abuse in the first place. With the Narconon Life Skills Courses, a student learns effective ways of dealing with the twists and turns life can throw at him. There are many exercises that show the recovering individual how to put the tools and knowledge into practice.

Beverly said, “Once my husband finished the Narconon program and we came to the facility to pick him up, we saw the twinkle in his eye that had been gone for the entire ten to twelve years before. The boys had their dad back, I had my husband back and we were finally a family again and life was great!”

Beverly commented that after seeing for herself what the Narconon program can do, she would highly recommend the program for anyone suffering from drug or alcohol addiction. Narconon is proud to help addicts overcome addiction and allow families to come back together again.

Beverly’s husband finished the drug rehab program at Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma.

An Alcoholic Who Now Calls His Life a Miracle

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Bob

A person addicted to alcohol sometimes does not realize he has a problem and may think that he is actually in control of his life—when this is far from the truth. This happened to Bob. He had the impression that his friends and family thought that sometimes he drank too much. He didn’t think anything was wrong with this. However, he realized later that he had been wrong all along.

Bob explained, “My alcohol use had alienated my family, my close friends, and my close relationships. Everybody tried to be civil about it. I thought from the way that they reacted that they thought sometimes I drank too much. I thought it was a normal thing. But drinking wasn’t one of those things that I could stop either. I realized then that there was a problem.”

Going to Narconon Arrowhead for help led Bob to a new life. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program provides lasting sobriety with a full package of treatment for addressing addiction. After an addict arrives, he or she goes through withdrawal and gets the body freed of the immediate effects of the alcohol or drug of choice. Once through the withdrawal phase, the recovering addict begins the Narconon New Life Detoxification.

On this unique detox, toxins that have accumulated in the body from drug or alcohol abuse are flushed out. Toxic residues can remain in the body’s tissues long after someone stops drinking or taking drugs. Once eliminated, the participant feels clean, refreshed and with a new outlook on life. Through the use of time in a sauna, a generous supply of vitamins and mineral supplements and moderate daily exercise, this cleansing of the body is known to assist a recovering addict in remaining drug or alcohol-free. Bob said, “Because of the combination of the sauna, the vitamins, working out and sweating, I felt great!”

As the last step of the Narconon program, the participant will learn life and coping skills that will give him the tools and knowledge to have a fulfilling life without drugs or alcohol. The Narconon Life Skills Courses provide reliable and applicable skills so the student can restore relationships lost in an addicted lifestyle. He will learn how to cope with situations he had trouble with in his life prior to coming into rehab. He learns his weaknesses so he can address and fix them. He finds out how to improve conditions in his life. He is very likely to find that he will never need to turn to drugs or alcohol again.

Bob said that the program gave him the knowledge that he never had to return to how he was when he was addicted to alcohol. He said, “My life is like a miracle. That may be a cliché but it really is true. If I could have picked my life, this is it. I’m happy. What else could you want?

Narconon saves addicted lives every day with an effective program addressing all sides of addiction. Narconon is truly the first choice in drug and alcohol rehab programs.

Finding a Way Out of the Horrors of Addiction

man walking out of the darkness

Many negative emotions plague an addict. Addiction brings a life to new lows, lows that were never anticipated when the person decided to try drugs. As drug abuse progresses into full-blown addiction, an addict finds his life-changing, headed downward further and further towards death. Brian experienced the horrors of addiction but eventually found a way out.

Brian described his life of addiction. “When addicted, my life was filled with despair, depression, anger, rage. My family—the respect and adoration I used to have in their eyes was lost. The trust factor was totally gone. My life was a complete shambles. I was dying.”

Luckily Brian found Narconon Arrowhead. In the Narconon program an addict is treated with respect and care for him as an individual. All sides of addiction are addressed, with the intention of getting the addicted person able to live a new life without drugs. He or she learns how to live without the need to turn to drugs or alcohol again.

Any addict knows that the withdrawal process can be very difficult and uncomfortable. However, because of the daily nutritional support and with the help of the trained and caring staff, many find that withdrawal from drugs or alcohol on the Narconon program to be much more tolerable. Brian told of his arrival and withdrawal. “When I first got to Narconon, I felt relieved. I had met some individuals and they were very passionate about what they did. They cared. They cared about getting me better. When I didn’t care about myself, they cared about me. That made a great impression on me. I felt a lot of love. They were there every step of the way with me. I really appreciated that.

“The portion of the program that helped me the most was the withdrawal phase. After three or four days of being here, I began to accept myself and the love that was around me. That is where I got a lot of my strength that carried me through the rest of the program. Once I quit fighting myself and decided to live for a better me and a better me for my family—that is where I saw the major change in me. This really sustained me. It just got better from then on.”

After finishing the entire program—the withdrawal, the unique sauna-based detox and the life skills training, Brian said, “I feel awesome. I feel on top of the world. There is nothing I can’t accomplish right now. I love myself now. I can look at myself with respect. I can look at my reflection in the mirror and smile. There used to be all these layers—of drugs and alcohol and all this other junk and now that is stripped away. Now the true me is here. Thanks to this program, it’s here.”

The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program turns lives around every day. It is one of the most successful rehab programs in the world at providing lasting recovery. Brian is just one of the thousands who has discovered its effectiveness.

A Heroin Addict who Now has a Bright Future

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Brooke

When a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol, he generally loses sight of who he is and what his values are. Nothing has much meaning to someone with a substance abuse addiction. Even family loses meaning and often an addict will just walk away from his family and friends. Brooke knows how life can go out of control with addiction.

She said, “I left home because of heroin when I was seventeen. My dad was not going to help me anymore and enable me to do the drug so I left. I didn’t call them or have any communication with them at all. I was on my own.”

She continued, “When addicted, I was not in a good state of mind. I didn’t know where I was. I didn’t know who I was. I was pretty much up for anything to get control over my life again because I didn’t have any control over it at all.”

Finding the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program was her salvation. The Narconon program addresses key aspects of addiction and provides an addict with the tools and knowledge that are so desperately needed for a lasting recovery. Lasting sobriety is most certainly possible and Narconon provides individuals with the ability to achieve lasting addiction recovery.

Addressing the physical dependency comes as a first step and this is accomplished with the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This is a vital step after the withdrawal process where harmful toxins and drug residues are flushed from the system. Since residual drugs can get stored in the body’s tissues for years after someone has stopped using drugs, getting these eliminated is important in helping a person stay sober. Residual drugs are known to contribute to the activation of drug cravings, so removing them from the addict’s body helps to reduce the chances of relapse.

Of course, the mental dependency also must be addressed and this is done with unique life skills training. This training consists of courses which help a recovering addict recover his responsibility for himself and his life. He often comes to a realization as to why he started drug use in the first place. He becomes better able to communicate and finds out how to restore relationships.

Facing and taking responsibility for the damage done in the past is all part of recovery. For example, on the Changing Conditions in Life Course, the student learns tools that help him repair parts of his life which were damaged by an addicted lifestyle.

Brooke explained that the Narconon program helped her realize that the person she was being while she was addicted was not the person she really was. The drugs had changed her that much. “I realized I was not the daughter who was betraying her parents or that girlfriend that betrayed her boyfriend. I was not any of those things.” She described her new sober life: “My life today is awesome. I’m married, I have two beautiful children and I thank God every single day for what this program has given me.”

Narconon helps addicts obtain lasting recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Lasting sobriety really is possible. A fulfilling life where the future looks bright and promising is right there waiting for those who finish the Narconon program.

Brooke graduated the program at Narconon Arrowhead.

A Jail Sentence Causes an Addict to Seek Recovery

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Chandler

Far too many times, an addict will not begin to search for a solution to his addiction until some terrible circumstance seems to bring him to his senses. Additionally, parents will sometimes remain in denial, refusing to believe the horrors their loved one faces with addiction until something disastrous occurs. A life of addiction has really only three conclusions—incarceration, death or successful recovery. The last option is what is truly needed to turn around an addict’s life for good.

Chandler was one addict who had his habit overwhelm his life and happiness. It took a serious threat to his freedom to make him and his family realize something must be done. He said, “My life was bad. I was getting high all the time, being lazy. I ended up in jail. My family decided they wanted to help me get clean and I agreed with them.”

They discovered Narconon Arrowhead. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program addresses both the mental and physical dependency to drugs or alcohol, enabling the addict to find lasting recovery. Treatment consists of a nutritionally based withdrawal, a unique sauna-based detoxification, and a series of life skills courses that teach an addict how to put his life back together.

Chandler said that when he began the Narconon program, he was nervous about what would happen, but when he got to the withdrawal step, “the people who worked there made me feel really comfortable with myself.” He said he became more talkative and met new people.

The sauna portion of the Narconon program is a detoxification that removes harmful drug residues from the recovering addict’s body. Through the use of a sauna, vitamins and minerals and daily moderate exercise, this detoxification flushes out the residual drugs which can contribute to the activation of drug cravings. Chandler said it was the part of the program that helped him the most. He said, “The sauna part of the program helped me the most because it got all the drugs out of my body and I felt a lot better.”

Learning life skills is important because many of the abilities of a person living an addicted lifestyle just slip quietly away. On these courses, the student learns about integrity, responsibility, communication and personal values. He often learns why he began to take drugs or alcohol in the first place and can work out how to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.

Chandler said upon completion of the Narconon treatment program, “Now that I’ve finished the program, I feel so much better. I’m in better communication with my family, friends and the people around me. I just feel awesome. And I have a really good job. I love it!”

Narconon heals addicted lives every day. It gives an addict back to himself, his friends and his family. With lasting recovery, the person can now live a productive and happy life without drugs.

An Addict Finally Becomes the Person She Wants to Be

Far too many teens become addicted to drugs or alcohol and sink into a life that only consists of searching for that next pill or drink. Many quit school, losing out on the opportunities that await them in the future. Family relationships suffer and good friends disappear. Addiction destroys lives, dreams, and futures.

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Chanel

Chanel is a beautiful young girl whose addiction started her down the wrong road. She described her life when addicted: “I was always concerned only about getting drugs. I dropped out of school because I was using drugs. I really didn’t have any type of relationship with my family. I never spent any time with them at all. Drugs were my priority and nothing else.”

Then she went to Narconon Arrowhead to get rid of her addiction to drugs. Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehab program designed to provide lasting recovery from addiction. Addressing addiction from both the physical and mental dependency that holds the addiction in place, the Narconon program is a comprehensive approach to helping someone overcome their addiction for good.

When Chanel found Narconon, she didn’t think at first that it would help her. In fact, she didn’t really think she needed help. She thought she could go home and be fine. But as she progressed, she realized how much she had grown and how much she had changed. It helped her not only with her addiction, but, as she said, “…with everything in my life.”

At Narconon, a nutritionally based withdrawal helps build a person up physically and repair the damage done by drug and alcohol abuse. A sauna-based detox flushes out toxic drug residues that have accumulated in the tissues of the body. This phase of the overall rehabilitation program combines the time in the sauna with moderate exercise and nutritional supplements to enable the body to start flushing out these old, stored drugs and other toxins.

Chanel said, “My sauna experience was really good. I really enjoyed exercising every day. It was really relaxing. And it was the first time in a long time where I felt I didn’t need drugs in the morning when I got out of bed. I could just get up and go on with my day.”

With the final step of the Narconon program, the participant gets life skills training and learns how to rebuild a life damaged by addiction. The courses the student studies provide essential knowledge and reliable tools for living a drug-free life. Each person also learns how he was able to avoid his own problems in life by becoming a drug or alcohol addict and how he can avoid making the same mistakes when he returns home. He finds out how to shed the guilt from harmful actions taken while addicted. Each person’s responsibility reaches new heights and in fact, must reach new high levels before the person is ready to go home.

Chanel said, “Going through the program helped with all parts of my life. Now I’m the person I want to be.” Narconon is very proud of all the addicts who have gotten back in control of their lives as a result of going through this program.

Discovering a Bright Future after Addiction

An addict will hit rock bottom and not even really be aware of it. The drugs cloud his (or her) judgment so that all they can see is the need to get the next pill or drink. This is what happened to Cheryl and she tells how it played out.

Cheryl Narconon Arrowhead graduate

“I had allowed my nursing license to lapse so I wasn’t practicing nursing anymore. I had gotten a divorce from my husband. I lost my home and was living in my parent’s basement. I had nothing to look forward to. I was so wrapped up in my drug addiction that I pretty much alienated myself from my friends and almost all of my family. I didn’t answer my phone or go out anywhere except, of course, if I had to go meet my dealer. That was it. I was basically going to die.”

Narconon saves addicted lives every day and Narconon saved Cheryl’s life. The program is designed to address both the mental and physical sides of addiction in a very effective way. Unlike other traditional drug rehab programs, Narconon has a special sauna detoxification which is done after the withdrawal process is complete. In this detox, the recovering addict does daily moderate exercise along with time in a low heat sauna, and takes an exact measure of vitamins and minerals which combine with other parts of the sauna program to flush out drug residues and toxins. With these harmful toxins removed from the system, the participant feels more alive, more alert and has foggy thinking lift and disappear. Drug cravings are often greatly reduced.

Another vital phase of Narconon treatment is the life skills training coming as the final step. This training consists of courses where the recovering individual has the opportunity for self-discovery. Rather than have someone else tell him what is wrong with him or what he did wrong in life, the student finds out for himself what his weaknesses are and how he got trapped in a world of addiction. He can turn his life around using reliable tools which he learns as he progresses through the course of study.

Cheryl said how she benefited from the Narconon program. “The Narconon program really did give me the steps I needed to apply in my daily life. It helped me understand and be in control of these issues, painful issues that happened. You learn how to deal with those and come to terms with them. It taught me how to make amends, to forgive yourself and to allow other people to forgive you. That was a huge thing. I had done so much to other people that I didn’t think there was any way out of it.” But there was and Cheryl found she could shed her guilt and move on with her life.

She added, “I can’t reiterate enough how I didn’t really think I had a future. I couldn’t tell what was going to happen with me. Now I can see it! I see myself twenty years from now. I see myself fifty years from now. It looks pretty good!” She smiles.

With the Narconon program, a person addicted to drugs or alcohol has a great chance at lasting recovery. She can go back home with the confidence that she can remain clean and sober and can have a bright and happy future.

Cheryl graduated Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma.

An Addict Discovers a Perfect Life

Narconon graduate Chris

An addict consumed with an addiction to drugs or alcohol cannot function normally. His (or her) personality is drastically altered by addiction and he will seem like a completely different person than how he was before using drugs. When a child has been taken over by substance abuse, parents easily see the harm it is doing, but they often don’t know what to do to save this addicted life. Chris knows how this can be because he was an addict. However, he found a solution.

Chris said of his addiction, “I felt horrible. It was pretty bad. All I cared about was drugs. I was consumed with it and that was all that mattered. I had lost all contact with my family. I didn’t really care about myself either. I was just lost.”

Chris didn’t know if his parents even knew that he was doing drugs at the time. He didn’t know they were actually looking for help for him and his addiction. And he continued, “I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know where to turn. I didn’t know that I could actually get help until my family said to me, ‘Hey, let’s try this program.’ And I did. That is what worked for me.”

The program he is talking about is the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. With a full address to all sides of addiction, the Narconon program really gives an addict the best chance at lasting recovery. Treating the body, mind, and spirit in combination is important because if you let one go, the other will suffer. The program takes the individual into account and his needs.

First, the participant will go through the withdrawal portion of the program. Many who have gone through withdrawal before say that the withdrawal at Narconon is much more tolerable than most. This is due to unique relaxation techniques used by the trained staff, and also because nutrition is used and is a key part of building the body up with essential nutrients that were depleted in an addicted lifestyle.

A sauna detox is also delivered with the Narconon program and is one of the vital factors in alleviating the problems stemming from drug residues remaining inside the body. The residual drugs which are lodged in the fatty tissues are known to be associated with the triggering of drug cravings. Flushing these out with a combination of sauna time, some moderate exercise and vitamin and mineral supplements can greatly relieve cravings later, and can thus help prevent relapse.

Chris commented on his feelings as he did the program. “I felt so good about myself and so much better that I didn’t want the drugs any longer. I could focus on myself and what I wanted out of life.”

The last step of recovery consists of a series of life skills courses. These courses prepare the person for going back home and building his drug-free life and restoring relationships and friendships lost in an addicted lifestyle. It is training in effective living so the recovering individual can maintain his life without drugs and accomplish his dreams.

Chris added a final word. “My life now is perfect. I don’t have to worry about anything coming up to haunt me—anything I’ve ever done in my past. I just keep focused on what I’m doing right now and I can continue to do whatever I need to do.”

The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is highly successful and heals addicted lives every day. It is so satisfying to the staff to see people come into the program as what seems to be a lost cause and leave happy, healthy and ready to accomplish future goals.

A Meth Addict Saved from a Life of Crime

Narconon graduate

A life of addiction often turns into a life of crime. Addicts have their lives spiral out of control while they focus only on finding the next pill or needle. Getting the drug entails having the money to buy it, and an addict will steal, lie and manipulate family and friends to get that money. Clint knows what this type of existence feels like. He was a meth addict.

Clint described his life of addiction. “I had completely destroyed my life. I was addicted to methamphetamine for a little over seven years. During those seven years, I lost basically everything I owned. I found myself in and out of jails for five of those seven years.”

Then Clint found Narconon. Somehow he knew this was a program that was going to help him to recover from his addiction. Narconon addresses addiction from all sides, a complete package for a full recovery. All treatment leads towards an addict obtaining improved health, back in control of his life and able to reach his full potential.

Clint knew there was something different about Narconon. He said, “When I came to Narconon, I was rather surprised with the people. Everyone around me seemed really happy. I wasn’t used to that. It was something that was different for me because of the crowd I normally hung out with. These people seemed genuinely happy with what they were doing here. It made me feel really comfortable.”

The Narconon program gives an addict the opportunity to truly turn around his life. After a tolerable withdrawal, the person begins the sauna-based detox, a regimen of time in a sauna, moderate daily exercise and a generous supply of nutritional supplements. This detox is designed to flush out drug residues that have accumulated and become stored in the body’s tissues. Once these poisonous toxins are gone, the person feels brighter and more awake and refreshed. Cravings can completely disappear.

Clint described what he felt about this part of the Narconon program. “During the sauna portion of the program, I actually started feeling a change. My body felt better. I was more alert. I realized what my life had become so I was willing then to give it my all to change. I felt a change coming and I knew it was a good change. I got really happy with myself and felt better about where I was and what I was doing with my life.”

Life skills training is the final step of the program at Narconon, bringing the recovering addict to a new understanding of life. He is able to repair damaged parts of his life from his past addicted lifestyle. He has the tools and knowledge to rebuild a productive and happy life.

Clint says it well. “This program was really great. By the time I graduated, I felt so good. I regained my ability to control my actions. I could do things I really enjoyed doing again. I’ve been clean for a year now and still feel as happy today as when I graduated. This was something I wanted and thought I couldn’t have, but now I have it and I’m successful again.”

Clint completed his drug rehabilitation program at Narconon Arrowhead.

An Addict Saves His Relationship with his Father

Graduate of Narconon Arrowhead

An addict, in his desperate attempt to satisfy the drug cravings, will lie, cheat and steal to get the drugs he feels he must have. Parents finally lose all the trust they had for a child who turns to doing such actions despite a moral upbringing. Colt knows how a family can be driven apart by drug abuse and addiction. It happened to him and his family.

Colt said, “While I was addicted, it was just a constant struggle. I started doing drugs at age fourteen and from then on it was trouble after trouble. Before you knew it, I had so many troubles that the only way I knew how to get past those troubles was to go back and start using drugs. Every time I would try to clean myself up, I had so many problems, I didn’t know how to deal with any of them. That would just send me right back to drugs.”

He explained how his relationship with his father suffered. “My drug use affected the people around me very negatively. It destroyed the relationship that my father and I had. Countless times I lied to him and stole from him. I ran him into the ground as many times as I could think of. It really affected my family’s trust in me and it was really hard to get that back. I finally got their trust back after being at Narconon.”

When Colt found Narconon, he had found a highly successful drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that is a complete package for handling addiction. From the relatively comfortable withdrawal and sauna-based detox to the thorough life skills training, Narconon addresses both the physical and mental aspects of dependency on drugs or alcohol.

The sauna-based detox is unique in that it uses time in a sauna, daily moderate exercise and vitamin and mineral supplements in generous supply to flush out drug residues. The residual drugs in the system after drug use can cause many negative effects. Drug residues are even known to be involved in the activation of drug cravings. This can easily lead to relapse, even after a person has stopped using drugs for some time. Therefore it is extremely beneficial to eliminate these toxins from the body.

In addition to addressing the effects of drugs or alcohol on the body, the addict must obtain the right mindset before going back home and into the same environment where he was using drugs or drinking. The Narconon Life Skills Courses provide the life and coping skills so important to maintaining a drug-free life. The student learns how to rebuild his life which was so damaged by his lifestyle as an addict. He discovers tools to restore damaged relationships.

Colt said, “I got back the self-esteem that I had been lacking my whole life. I lost the anxiety and depression I had been suffering from for the last couple years. I regained the sense of independence and responsibility for being a member of society and being able to function as a member of society. I feel like I can do anything and be anyone I want to now.”

He was smiling as he added, “The Narconon program brought me back in touch with reality and brought me back in touch with myself. It brought me back with my family. I’m in a great relationship with my father. I now feel I can function in the real world and contribute to the society as a real person with goals. I just feel there is nothing stopping me now.”

When Narconon achieves such successes, there is no question that this program is the first choice in drug rehab programs when an addict needs to turn his life around and get lasting recovery.

An Addict’s Parents Wait for that Inevitable Phone Call

When a parent loses her child to addiction, the heartbreak is immeasurable. The young person they used to know is totally different, caught in a trap of intense physical and mental cravings for drugs or alcohol. The child loses the positive personality traits so familiar to a mother and father, sister and brother. However, there is hope of getting your loved one back. The story of Connie and her son Dan is just one such story you hear at Narconon constantly.

Mother of Narconon graduate

Connie described what she went through when her son, Dan, was addicted. “It was a constant struggle, a constant worry. You jump when your phone rings. You are always just waiting for that phone call that is inevitable. You know something bad is going to happen. You don’t want to believe it but you just have to come to terms with it. That is part of this whole ordeal.”

Her son had turned into someone else unfamiliar to her. She said, “It was scary. He was hopeless, defeated, no self-confidence. He had kind of given up.” Then she found the Narconon Arrowhead rehab program and Dan began the program. In the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, the addict has a real chance at lasting recovery. In fact, Narconon is one of the most successful and effective programs in its field at providing lasting recovery from addiction.

At Narconon, the participant first goes through nutritionally based withdrawal which is made more tolerable through the use of supplements, healthy meals, along with 24-hour support and assistance by the trained staff. The next major step is the Narconon New Life Detoxification whereby using vitamin and mineral supplements along with a regimen of daily exercise and time in a sauna, the residual drugs stored in the body’s fatty tissues are flushed from the system.

Finally, the recovering addict studies a series of courses that permit him to rebuild and restore a life destroyed by drug use. He learns or re-learns life skills that help him deal with life without turning to drugs and alcohol as a solution to anything.

Connie said, “I think the program started kicking in for Dan about halfway through. Each time he would call, you could hear a change in his voice. Some of the anger lifted and there was a little humor that came back and some self-confidence. It was an all-around better personality.”

Then she added, “When Dan finished the program at Narconon, I immediately called people and said, ‘I got my son back.‘” She broke down briefly from the emotional impact of her own words. She continues, “It was somebody I hadn’t seen in years. We wouldn’t give up on him so he wouldn’t give up on himself. Now, he’s funny, he’s very confident and hopeful. He’s the person we all want our kids to be.”

With Narconon, those who have thought they lost someone to addiction are overcome with joy to get their loved one back. Narconon saves addicted lives every day.

A Truly Drug-Free Life at Last

Many addicts find it hard to get lasting relief from their addictions. They search and search for effective rehab, trying numerous programs which may only help them achieve short periods of sobriety. Additionally, almost all traditional rehabs and detox programs give the recovering addict substitute drugs. But this means that a person who has gone to rehab to get sober leaves dependent on a new drug—one prescribed often while he was in rehab.

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Dan

Dan is one addict who was addicted to multiple drugs and had a terrible time staying clean. Then he finally found a solution.

Dan described his addictions. “I had been drinking and using drugs since I was about fifteen. I just progressively got worse. If I wasn’t drinking I would pick up another drug. I had a cocaine problem for about three years. I did OxyContin for two years. And I would always go back to drinking. Then I got on antidepressants. And that got me in a real state of misery. It was awful.”

He added, “Last year I crashed my car and my family decided I needed help. I agreed, but I had already tried multiple programs. I would have little pieces of sobriety here and there, but I was still miserable. Then my sister found Narconon on the Internet. I had never heard of it, and I didn’t really think there was any way to get clean and straight. But I told her I would definitely give it a chance. It was by far the best decision I ever made.”

The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program was exactly what Dan needed. First, he went through withdrawal, which he had done numerous times before. He said, “The Narconon withdrawal is definitely the way to withdraw from drugs. All the other rehabs or detoxes I went to would just give me a substitute drug. I would always leave the program on some other drug. Narconon does not do that. And withdrawal is not hard. You’ll have your bad days, but you’ll have your bad days coming off any drug. Overall, you hardly realize you are withdrawing from drugs.”

Soon after withdrawal, each participant in the rehab program goes through the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This phase of recovery consists of time in a low heat sauna, vitamin and mineral supplements in generous supply and daily exercise. This combination flushes out residues of drugs that accumulate in the tissues of the body. These toxic residual drugs are known to be associated with the activation of drug cravings. When these poisons are eliminated, cravings often greatly reduce or disappear altogether. Dan said, “The sauna definitely took care of all my drug cravings.

Then he continued with the remaining steps of the Narconon program, a series of life skills courses that provide knowledge and ability and provide tools so the student can restore relationships damaged by drug use and can rebuild areas of his life that were destroyed by addiction. An example of one of the courses is the Ups and Downs in Life Course. Here the recovering addict learns how to recognize different negative or positive characteristics of people and whether the person would be likely to drag him down or would support his new life without drugs.

Dan talked about these courses and what he attained from studying them. “The courses got me comfortable with myself. I know what to look out for now, what to be aware of, including people in my past or even in the present who can bring me down. I am confident with myself. I believe in myself.

Dan added, “The greatest success I got from the Narconon program was that I don’t need any drugs, period! Nothing prescribed or anything. I don’t crave drugs. Now every day is just better than the previous day. It just gets better and better and better. My life, my family relationships, my friendships are just getting stronger. It’s great!”

Dan graduated the Narconon Arrowhead Drug Rehab center.

An Addict Sheds His Guilt and Moves On

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Darin

Addicts are usually pretty oblivious to the ways they may be affecting those close to them with their addictions. They also may have experienced awful consequences in their own lives, but losing their homes, cars, or friends may mean little to them at the time. They are completely engulfed with their cravings and the search for that next fix or drink. Darin lost everything to drugs, but then he finally he decided he would get it all back.

Darin explained: “I was traveling around the country making really good money and spending it all on drugs. I was neglecting my family, my friends, everything that was important to me. They all missed me so much. I lost everything. I lost my house, my family, and multiple jobs. It was all gone.”

He added, “My drug use affected the people around me in more ways than I realized. Now I know what I was doing to the people around me and how much danger I was putting them in. And myself! I could have killed someone with the kind of work I do. I never really thought about that before when I was doing drugs and working on these multi-million dollar projects. I really could have hurt somebody. Also with the struggle that I put my mother through, it’s incredible that she is still there for me.”

Darin found Narconon and this is how he made the needed changes in his life. Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehab program with a highly successful treatment program that provides lasting recovery from addiction. After going through withdrawal, the recovering addict does an effective sauna detox which removes harmful drug residues from his (or her) body. He then proceeds to do life skills training. This training is a key factor in a recovering addict being able to remain drug-free.

One of the courses the participant will do is called the Personal Values Course. Virtually every drug or alcohol addict loses his self-esteem, feels out of control and carries a lot of guilt with him regarding the harmful things he did while addicted. This course teaches each student how he can once again assume responsibility for his own actions, without pointing the finger at anyone else. As he comes to realize his own responsibility in what happened to him, he can shed the guilt and move forward in life.

Darin said, “The biggest change happened in the middle of the program. I discovered who and what I am. This brought me into the present so I no longer have to be haunted by my past. I can continue from this point forward. I know I’m going to be a better person for it and I know I’m going to succeed now.”

He continued, “I felt incredible after I finished the program. I felt a sense of accomplishment that I haven’t felt in years. I got so many wins and gains from the Narconon program that I don’t even know where to start. It was one win after another from the time I got here until now. I changed 100 percent from the person that I was when I came in here. It changed my life!”

The Narconon program restores hope to those who may have lost all hope for a better future. It really is possible to leave drugs behind and live a happy and productive life, with family and friends close and dreams coming true. Narconon will give an addict the best opportunity to get to this point.

Darin got his life back on the drug rehab program at Narconon Arrowhead.

Learning How to Smile Again after Addiction

group of smiling friends

Addiction destroys a person’s emotions, his ability to experience life to the fullest. Drug and alcohol addiction turns a happy person into someone morose and isolated, unable to be productive or face the normal problems that life throws his way.

David knows exactly how a life can be messed up when addicted. He said, “When I was addicted, I really didn’t have a life at all. For twenty years I had been abusing everything from alcohol to methamphetamine to prescription drugs. I was living as a blank. I had no emotions at all. I wasn’t experiencing life at all.”

The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program can change all that. It did for David. This effective program addresses addiction from all sides, supporting the recovering addict in his recovery. The treatment addresses the reasons that cravings can come back to haunt someone even after he has stopped using drugs, and provides knowledge and tools that help a recovering addict discover why he began using illicit drugs in the first place. He learns how he can repair the damage done in the past and improve situations in his life.

David said, “When I got into withdrawal, I was scared like most people are going to be when they get into a situation like that. But the staff in withdrawal just made it incredibly easy for me.” He added, “I remember everybody around me was smiling. I thought that’s strange. How can anybody be that happy? What I came to realize was there wasn’t something wrong with these people. It was ME! They were the ones who were normal. I was the one who had forgotten how to smile.”

The Narconon program also utilizes a unique detoxification for those in recovery. This program flushes out the residual drugs that have built up in the tissues in the body, residual toxins that are known to be involved in the activation of cravings, even long after someone has ceased drug use.

David stated, “The first time I saw a real change in myself was about mid-way through the sauna portion of the program. I had been a dead person for twenty years. I had never even noticed how beautiful things were, how things smelled. And as my body cleansed, I came awake. I realized I was a person worthy of living.”

On the final phase of the program, each participant studies special life skills information given in the form of short but powerful courses. These courses provide reliable tools for a recovering addict to use to remain drug-free and improve and rebuild his life.

David commented on his gains from this study. “I got something from every part of the program, but the thing that stands out is the day I learned why I started drugs in the first place. Had I not figured that out, what would have prevented me from making the same mistakes again? Now that I’ve finished the program I can’t even explain how my life is going to change. For the first time in my life, I can look anybody in the eyes and hold my head up high. I know now that regardless of what comes upon me in my life, what kinds of difficulties I face, I can handle them without turning back to drugs. I can have a happy, productive life - for the first time in my life.”

The Narconon program has helped save thousands of addicted lives. David knows. He now has a new life without drugs. He can smile again.

David graduated from Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma.

A Raging Success Hits the Skids

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Derek

Addicts come from all walks of life. No matter what level of education a person has or how much money he makes, he can still find himself caught up in a destructive storm of addiction. Those who are successful and moving forward with their lives can suddenly find addiction holds them in its grasp and they can’t get free. An addict loses his dreams and ends up depressed and ruined. Derek saw this happen to him.

“I had a career as a mechanical engineer and did product management up in Detroit, putting up assembly plants, things of that nature. It was pretty successful. But I got heavily into drugs, just trying to keep up with the pace. As a result, I lost everything I had. This included my family, my house, my car and friendships I spent my life building. You name it. Pretty much everything that I owned, I lost.”

He found Narconon and everything began to change. Narconon is a rehabilitation program that provides lasting recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The treatment consists not only of withdrawal and a unique detox that flushes drug residues from the system, but goes far beyond that. It provides an education in life, giving the participant knowledge on how and why to live a drug-free life and building from there.

The sauna-based detox is done after withdrawal. It is extremely effective in clearing out the body of those residual drugs that become lodged and are stored in the tissues of the body. These stored toxins can remain there, even for years, if the person does not go through a process that enables him to flush them out. With the residual drugs gone, the person feels brighter and has a much better outlook on life than before.

Derek said, “My experience in the sauna was probably the best part of my program. Every day that I went in there I felt better coming out. I would go in lethargic and not wanting to do anything. By the time I got out at the end of each day I felt myself progressively better. I was thinking clearer, I had more energy. I was focused. I had more drive to do things and looked forward to continuing on with the program to get the rest of myself back in order.”

The final step, the Narconon Life Skills Courses, provide a comprehensive education about life. An addict has pretty much-destroyed relationships he has had. He has alienated family members and forgotten how to deal with problems and challenges. This series of courses covers areas where the recovering addict can see where he went wrong. He can avoid the same mistakes. He will also learn how to improve areas of life so it can be lived happily and productively without drugs or alcohol.

Derek describes how things were for him after he completed the program at Narconon Arrowhead. “My life has improved because of the Narconon program! Now I have my loved ones back in my life. It has also taught me how to get what I want out of life again, how to approach things in a positive fashion and not let the negative things affect me and drive me backward. Now I can push forward without any hold-backs. I have achieved lasting sobriety.

Narconon is proud when they help an addict turn his life around, reunite with family and get back on track for a happy life without drugs. It happens every day at Narconon!

An Addict Finds Her Way

Narconon graduate Gena

Cocaine is a powerfully addictive drug. Cocaine addiction has reached almost epidemic proportions in this country and has destroyed millions of lives. Families who have a loved one addicted to cocaine are well aware of the tragedy that goes along with this situation. The addict becomes depressed, disillusioned, and isolated. It seems that he (or she) will never regain a normal life again. Gena is one cocaine addict who knows the horrors of addiction.

Gena was at the Narconon Arrowhead rehab center when she described her life as an addict. She said, “I’ve been a cocaine user for 25 years off and on. I would try and quit and I could never quit on my own. I’ve been through several rehabs with no success. I would walk off from jobs. I lost many a job because of drug use. Or I would get caught stealing something. Life was constant turmoil. There were upsets with my parents, my children, and my husband. My relationships were all a mess because of my drug use.”

The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is not like other rehabs. First, there is a drug-free withdrawal. In the case where a person needs to be medically weaned down from certain drugs such as benzodiazepines or heavy alcohol use, he would complete this beforehand. Then once he begins the Narconon program, no substitute drugs are used in the withdrawal process or as further treatment. This way they are not just becoming addicted to a new drug to replace his drug of choice. With nutritional support and plenty of one-on-one attention, he can soon be fully drug-free and ready for the rest of the Narconon program.

Soon after withdrawal, the participant does the Narconon New Life Detoxification, a unique detox where drug residues are removed from the fatty tissues of the body where they have been stored. These residual drugs are noted as being associated with the activation of cravings for drugs, so with the toxins gone, the person is far less apt to relapse.

Finally, the last steps of the program are a series of courses providing effective knowledge in how to restore and rebuild a life that was damaged by drug abuse and addiction. The courses address such topics as responsibility, causes for the ups and downs in life, personal values, communication and much more. For example, one course is called the Personal Values Course. Many students say the information on this course enabled them to confront their harmful actions in the past, take responsibility for them and be able to move on with their lives, no longer stuck in the past.

Gena had not yet finished the program but had experienced the relief of knowing she was no longer an addict and knowing she was going to make it this time. She was reunited with her children. She said, “My relationship with my kids right now is great! We speak often and have good communication. They are so happy and are so proud of how far I’ve come. My addiction has been a problem since they were young. Both have expressed that they really feel I am on the road to recovery. That feels great.”

She added, “After coming to Narconon I feel great! My life is back on track. I have a lot more self-confidence than I’ve had in years and years and a lot more self-respect. I feel like I’ve accumulated a lot of skills that I can go out there and use in life.”

In doing the Narconon program, an addict can turn his life around, get his family relationships reestablished and will never need to turn to drugs again. This makes a happy and fulfilling drug-free life.

An Addict Finds Hope Once Again

When someone is addicted to drugs or alcohol, he loses all hope. All that is important to him is finding that next pill, smoke or drink. Around him, life becomes a shambles. Hayes is very familiar with the heartbreak of addiction. He lost all self-esteem and suffered greatly as his family lost all hope of his ever becoming free of drug and alcohol addiction.

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Hayes

Hayes described his problem. “My life, if that is what you want to call it, was not much of a life. It was nothing but drug and alcohol abuse for a twenty-year period. The last two years of that time, I never drew a sober breath. It was living hell for not only myself but for anyone I came in contact with. My family and loved ones had pretty much given up on me. I have to say,” he added, on the verge of tears at the memory, “I came to the point where I just didn’t know where to go or what to do. I had given up on myself.

Then Hayes found the Narconon program. He had tried other rehabs before and yet Narconon seemed something different. The Narconon program provides a drug rehab treatment that is truly unique.

An important aspect of the program is the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This detox is where drug residues are flushed from the body, important in clearing the body from harmful toxins lodged in the fatty tissues of the body.

Hayes described his arrival. “When I first got to Narconon, the staff were so kind and caring. After talking to some of the staff and hearing their stories, I knew they understood what I was feeling and what I had been through because they had been there too. They made me feel so comfortable. They helped me through withdrawal, which was a difficult time. But they made it so much better than it could have been on my own.

The later phase of the Narconon rehabilitation program consists of life skills training to help a recovering addict prepare to go back home, fortified with the knowledge and tools to live a drug-free life. With this vital knowledge and using the reliable and applicable tools provided, the recovering individual can repair the damage caused by an addicted lifestyle.

Addressing both the physical and mental sides of addiction, Narconon offers a successful program to help an addict through the process of leaving drugs and alcohol behind. Hayes finished the program and said, “Now that I have completed the Narconon program, I have myself back. I have my dignity and respect and work ethics. I feel like I did before I started using drugs—something I thought I would never have again. I thought it was gone for good. And Narconon gave me that back.

Stopping That Never-Ending Cycle of Addiction

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Jack

Jack was living a kind of hell that comes from drug and alcohol addiction. He was caught in an endless cycle of getting money to buy drugs, doing what he had to do to get that money, using the drugs and alcohol then starting the cycle all over again. There was nothing else to his life but these actions repeated over and over. He thought it would never stop.

Jack describes what happened to his life as a result of being addicted. “I was using crack cocaine, alcohol, methamphetamine, and OxyContin. These drugs tore my body down to the point I was nothing. My family was at wit’s end with me. My father was frustrated and fed up. My sister would pretty much have nothing to do with me. I had nothing. I was lost. I was wandering. I had no aim, no direction to go.”

This sounds very similar to the lives of other addicts. These are common occurrences with addiction—that drug and alcohol abuse breaks apart families, destroys the health of the addict and obliterates any dreams the addict once had. However, like Jack found out, there is hope of getting a real life back.

Narconon is an effective and highly successful drug and alcohol rehabilitation program and gives any addict the chance to live a life without drugs. It is really all about lasting recovery from addiction. This is what Narconon holds for those who do this drug rehab treatment. The tools exist at Narconon that give someone addicted to drugs or alcohol the ability to get back in control of his (or her) life and destiny. He can build dreams again, set goals and accomplish those goals.

One major part of recovery is the sauna-based detox. This is done after withdrawal and helps to flush out drug residues that have remained in the body and would stay there for years if nothing was done to eliminate them. These residual drugs are notorious for contributing to drug cravings which is why it is so important to get them out of the body. Once done with this portion of the Narconon treatment, the recovering addict notices many changes, both physical and mental.

Jack said, “My biggest win on the Narconon program was doing the sauna portion. The changes that I saw when I came through! I was able to see myself as a brand new person. The physical changes and the mental changes were just amazing. I was like somebody I hadn’t recognized in ten years.”

In addition to the innovative sauna detox, the recovering addict also goes through extensive life skills training. This fortifies him to go back into life, repair damaged parts of his life and restore relationships. He learns how to effectively communicate, learns responsibility and inspects his past life thoroughly. He finds his strengths and weaknesses and can build on the strengths and learn how to fix the weak areas.

This life skill training was particularly important to Jack. He said, “The Narconon program gave me the ability to change myself and actually show my family that I was changing into a different person. It has very much improved our relationship. My family has come to see me twice since I’ve been in the program and we’ve actually had good conversations and haven’t fought with each other—which is amazing as we haven’t had that in a while.”

During the Narconon Life Skills Courses, a participant studies with and works with other students, each getting the other person through exercises which help in applying these invaluable principles to their lives. Jack said, “On the program as a student, I had the opportunity to help other individuals go through some of the difficulties that they were facing. This really helped me raise my responsibility level and my communication with others.”

He added, “Now that I have finished the Narconon program, I feel absolutely fantastic! I feel like I never have before. I have no sense of cravings. I have a sense of purpose in my life. I have a direction that I want to follow. I actually have goals that I want to set out and achieve. Because of the Narconon program, I have everything back. I have something to look forward to again.”

Narconon gives an addict the opportunity to get his life back on track. He will be able to face and deal with situations and people that could badly influence him. He can live a drug-free life and be a proud and contributing member of society. This is what recovery from addiction should accomplish and at Narconon, it does.

An Addict Discovers What He was Looking for in Recovery

When an addict is trying to find recovery from addiction, whether it is from drugs or alcohol or both, he can run into all kinds of barriers. Many addicts have tried rehab programs before but couldn’t achieve successful addiction recovery. A person addicted to drugs or alcohol often is desperate to leave drugs behind but begins to think it isn’t possible and that it will always be a struggle. However, with Narconon, lasting recovery is truly possible.

Narconon Arrowhead graduate James

James discovered Narconon Arrowhead and speaks about his search for recovery. He said, “Before I got to Narconon, I had a lot of ups and downs. I would do good for a little while and feel really good about myself and then I would get back on drugs. I would start destroying things and people around me and my own life. It wasn’t good. When I came here, it was like a last-ditch attempt at getting help.”

Although all parts of the Narconon program address key points of drug or alcohol dependency, one part has a particularly huge impact on recovering addicts. After withdrawal and a detox that removes toxic drug residues from where they are stored within the body, the participant does the Narconon Life Skills Courses. This is a series of courses which give the recovering individual an insight into his past and provide him with a new outlook for his future. He doesn’t just get a new outlook, however. He gets actual tools he can use to maintain a sober life and to restore areas that were damaged by an addicted lifestyle.

James said, “The Narconon program was really effective for me. There are a lot of different reasons but probably the biggest thing was that it helped me find out why I did drugs in the first place. To look at and take care of that reason from years and years ago made me able now to take a step forward for the first time without worrying about the past.”

He added, “Now because of Narconon I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I can accomplish what I want to accomplish in life. I know I can be part of a family and will not mess up my wife or kids. I know I can be a part of making this planet a better place. Instead of being part of the problem, I’m part of the solution because of the answers I got here at Narconon.”

James called Narconon the “total package.” He described what he meant: “I tried numerous other things and they all had little things that would help a little bit, but Narconon is the complete package. It’s all the things you were looking for in all the other rehabs you tried, everything in one package. And it works!”

Narconon saves addicted lives every day. The treatment program is like James describes—the total package for achieving lasting recovery from addiction.

The Positive Path to Recovery from Addiction

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Jason

It goes without saying that an addict is a very unhappy person. He (or she) is embroiled in so many negative emotions that life is an intense struggle every day. Jason experienced many things in his life of addiction, including feelings of guilt, the loss of friends, the loss of the trust of his family. This is common to most addicts as they fall into the trap of addiction. It takes their life on a downward spiral towards complete despair and endless heartache.

Jason said, “When I was addicted, the people in my life, my close friends, and my family, were really affected by my drug use. No one wanted to be around me and no one trusted me anymore. I hurt a lot of people that I truly loved.” His despair and pain were hard on him, and he wanted out.

When he found Narconon, he found a program that could help him overcome his addiction. Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that is the full package in addressing addiction and providing lasting recovery. With a relatively tolerable withdrawal and a unique sauna detox which flushes out residual drug toxins from the body, including drug residues, this is just the start of recovery from addiction.

The final phase of the Narconon drug rehab program is a series of courses that provide the participant with life and coping skills. Anyone who has been associated with an addict knows how his ability to handle situations in life suffers greatly when under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This inability to cope can continue even after he stops using drugs unless he builds new life skills. He must learn how to deal with the twists and turns that life can throw at him, and not feel compelled to turn to drugs or alcohol again. He needs to learn to be productive and honest and know how to maintain a sober lifestyle.

The life skills training includes a series of courses that teach what responsibility is all about, how to improve conditions in life and the path to a happy life. The courses also include exercises which show how to apply the skills directly and effectively in life.

Leaving the past behind and moving forward is also of importance. Hanging onto the past only weighs one down and can lead to relapse. The recovering addict learns how to confront his past misdeeds and can thus come to terms with them and move forward with his life.

Jason said, “Towards the end of the program I was feeling very positive about all aspects of my life. The feelings of guilt and the monkey on my back had been lifted. I was actually able to mend relationships that I had damaged in the past. Having completed the Narconon program, it is the first time in my life that I am confident again in my abilities and where my life can take me. I’m happy, which is the first time in ten years. I’m productive, which I never was before. It is a positive path. It has brought me things that I never thought I’d be able to have or enjoy.

Narconon saves addicted lives every day. At dozens of rehab centers around the world, those who were addicted turn their lives around and go back home confident that they can stay clean from here on out.

Jason graduated the program at Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma.

An Addict Discovers a New Life after Addiction is Possible

Anyone associated with someone addicted to drugs knows how the person’s life becomes a mess. He (or she) cannot maintain sobriety for any period of time. Addiction controls his life. The person seldom can keep a job as he is not able to focus on work, but is really only thinking about where the next fix is coming from. He neglects family, friends, and responsibilities. He harbors guilt from all the harmful acts committed in his search for drugs.

Narconon graduate Jim

Jim was addicted to drugs for five years. His life went to ruins. He was lucky, however. He found Narconon Arrowhead. Narconon is a drug rehab program unlike any others out there. Its unique approach to addiction is extremely successful. Addressing both the physical and mental aspects of addiction, Narconon is the whole package of recovery.

The first step is withdrawal. Many addicts are apprehensive, having tried to come off drugs before and finding it virtually intolerable. However, at Narconon, with the help of trained and caring staff, the recovering addict finds it much more tolerable. Withdrawal also includes generous nutritional support. Replacing depleted nutrients helps the person come through withdrawal with less pain and discomfort.

Next is the sauna-based detox. On this portion of the program, the participant follows a strict regimen of time in a low heat sauna, vitamins and minerals and daily exercise. This combination flushes out the residual drugs stored in the body’s fatty tissues. This helps reduce or eliminate cravings. Jim said, “The sauna portion of the program was important for me. I got rid of cravings. I got healthy. I felt great.”

The Narconon program also includes a series of Life Skills Courses. Covering a wide range of topics and teaching key skills in living a drug-free life, these courses put a recovering addict back into control of his life. He sheds the guilt he carries and he learns how to communicate effectively. He gains back his self-respect.

One course in the line-up is the Objectives. Here the student does exercises that help him improve his communication skills. This course also helps to brighten the individual’s perceptions and ability to focus on their present environment rather than being stuck in the past.

Jim said, “Getting my communication skills back, that was really important to me. I also found out how out of whack my life was. It was terrible. That enabled me to discover why I was unhappy and why I went for drugs in the first place. I was able to correct that.”

He added, “I am back to being a productive, ethical and sober member of society, which I haven’t been in about five years. And that is cool! I’m forty-seven years old and this is my proudest moment.”

Narconon helps save addicted lives every day. It is one of the top choices for effective drug rehab so someone who is struggling with addiction can leave drugs behind for good.

Shedding the Guilt Associated with Addiction

There is a lot of guilt that an addict carries around. This is a result of all the lies and deceit that come from living a life of addiction. John knows exactly how this guilt plagues an addict because he has been there and done that. John was an alcoholic and a drug user.

Narconon Arrowhead grad John

He said, “I used to drink a lot—to the point where I would drink every day. I didn’t care where I was going to get it, just as long as I was going to get more alcohol. That was how I got involved with other drugs, like cocaine and marijuana. It got me connected to some really, really bad people.”

He continued, “I drank so much alcohol that things were not going really well at all. I had this huge hole I was trying to fill all the time, every day, with more and more alcohol. I was really depressed. The guilt that you have is so heavy when you are using drugs because of all the lies you are telling over and over again—all the people that you’ve hurt. You continue to use more drugs and you continue to tell more and more lies. It goes nowhere. It’s a vicious cycle.”

Luckily John found the Narconon drug and alcohol rehab program. He saw that there was hope to get out of this endless cycle of lies. He also knew he had found something different than other programs he tried and where he failed to find lasting recovery. “It was amazing. I had been to other places, other different treatment centers, but when I got to Narconon all the people here were happy, smiling and were really genuine about the way that they felt. I just knew that I was in a better place.”

John felt a big difference when he began a key part of the Narconon program. This was the sauna-based detox where the toxic drug residues are flushed out of the body using a unique regimen of sauna time, nutritional supplements, and daily moderate exercise. These poisonous residues have commonly been associated with the activation of cravings for drugs or alcohol and once eliminated, make a big difference in an individual’s energy, outlook and ability to stay clean.

John described what he achieved in the sauna detox. “I realized that the cravings were actually going away when I was in the sauna part of the program. This is where you actually sweat out all the toxins in your body that help keep you addicted to drugs. My appetite came back and I just felt a lot better.”

The last phase of the program is life skills training, an important part in giving the recovering addict the chance to effectively manage his future drug-free life. At this juncture, the student is able to confront the misdeeds of his past and come to terms with them. He can, therefore, shed his guilt and move on with his life. John said, “After completing the Narconon program, I actually felt guilt-free. I was no longer the person I had been before I came to Narconon. That made me feel a lot better and more able to do the things I now do.”

He continued, “Once I finished the program, I actually got a chance to look back. I came in a person who was depressed, not really knowing who I was or what was going on in my life or where I was going. I left with a plan—knowing I could do great things. I have all this ability to do whatever I want, ready to conquer the world.”

The Narconon program gives an addict the best possible chance to get rid of his drug or alcohol habit and live a life without drugs, without guilt, without depression.

John completed the drug rehab program at Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma. He has been free from his addiction for over a decade and living a happy and productive life.

Failure turned to Success in Stopping Addiction

An addict attempting to quit using drugs can have failure after failure. There is nothing that gives a person addicted to drugs or alcohol more hopelessness than trying to stop his (or her) habit and not being able to. John knew this well. He could not shake the persistent cravings, the guilt, and depression that accompanied his addiction.

Narconon graduate John S

John explained his attempts. “I tried to quit fifty million different ways. On my own about a hundred different times, in hospitals, with 28-day programs, half-way houses, more detoxes than I can count on my fingers. Nothing seemed to work until I came to Narconon and handled the depression, the cravings and the guilt. Then I was done!”

Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program with an exceptional recovery process. After getting a recovering addict through a relatively comfortable withdrawal, the Narconon program has the person begin the Narconon New Life Detoxification. With a combination of moderate exercise, time in a low heat sauna and a generous supply of vitamin and mineral supplements in the correct proportions, the sauna-based detox cleanses the body of residual drugs. These toxic residues are known to be associated with the sparking of cravings, so once they are eliminated from the body, the recovering individual feels so much cleaner, with clear thinking and a new outlook. Cravings are greatly reduced or can even be eliminated altogether.

John described his experience with the sauna detox. “The sauna portion of the program really helped to lift a lot of the depression that I had going on when I came to the program. Also, there was a point where my outlook on life seemed to change. It was an instant moment where I could enjoy life again.”

After the detoxification in the sauna portion of the program, the participant will then do a study of life skills, thereby learning abilities that will help him to create a happy, drug-free future. There are six courses which help the student discover for himself his own strengths so he can fix his personal weaknesses that might have led him to abuse drugs. The courses address responsibility, integrity, ethics, and personal values, to name a few.

John added, “One of the great things about Narconon is that it is results-based. They are going to give you as long as it takes to handle your problem. That gives you the assurance that you aren’t cutting any corners and rushing through it. So if you need to be here for longer than three months, they offer that for the individual and that is one of the safest things—knowing you are going to get what you need to get.” A recovering person continues until he is confident he can stay clean when he walks out the door to go back home.

John added, “My life now is very stable. My future is very bright. I can do pretty much whatever I put my mind to. Before the program, I couldn’t even think about getting out of bed let alone being successful at anything. So my life has completely changed.”

The Narconon program is highly successful, with caring staff that are there to see the addict fully recovers and goes on to achieve his dreams.

An Alcoholic Gets Back His Life and his Family

Those who are addicted to alcohol find their lives falling apart. It is no wonder, as the focus of an alcoholic becomes drinking and satisfying the urge for more. Situations in life just continue to get worse, and as the drinking escalates, it dulls the addict’s senses and ends up destroying many aspects of life.

John—a Narconon Arrrowhead graduate

John knows what steady drinking does to a person’s life. He experienced it. He describes his life while he was addicted to alcohol. “I drank all the time. I was very depressed. I was a very unhappy person. My family tried for a long time to help me out. I just wasn’t willing. Finally, we had no communication whatsoever.”

Then John found Narconon, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that is an alternative to traditional rehabs. With a nutritionally based withdrawal and a thorough sauna-based detox to flush out toxins from the body, this program first addresses the physical factors that keep an addiction alive.

John said, “When I first got here and started withdrawal, everybody was very accepting. I was very scared, but they made it a very enjoyable experience. Then I was eager to get on with the rest of the program.”

The Narconon New Life Detoxification employs daily moderate exercise, generous vitamin and mineral supplements and time in a sauna to rid the body of drug residues and toxins that are stored in fat tissues. Cleaning out the body also clears the mind and those who complete this part of treatment often say they feel brighter and have a better outlook on life.

John felt it was his favorite part of recovery. He said, “Once completing the sauna program, I felt alive again. I felt young. I really felt ready to start dealing with my issues from that point on.”

The final part of the recovery process at Narconon consists of life skills training which helps the recovering addict not only find out where he went wrong and why he ended up in rehab but also gives him tools so he can maintain sobriety once back home. The knowledge gained from these courses can be used for the rest of one’s life.

Afte finishing all the steps of the drug rehab program at Narconon Arrowhead, John smiled and said, “Since I’ve completed the program, I feel great! Life is wonderful. I love waking up every morning. My relationship with my family is excellent. This was the greatest choice I’ve ever made.”

Narconon helps addicts to repair and rebuild their lives so they never need to turn to drugs or alcohol again. This successful program saves lives and families.

Stripping Drug Residues from the Body Gives New Life

Addicts are not usually aware of it, but as they abuse drugs, residues are building up within the body day after day. Residual drugs become trapped in the fatty cells, remaining for a long time even after the addict has stopped using drugs. These toxins are known to be associated with the activation of drug cravings as well as other adverse effects.

The Narconon program addresses this matter by a unique detoxification process. Narconon is an effective and highly successful drug and alcohol rehabilitation program which takes an innovative approach to dealing with both the physical and mental dependency on addictive substances. With a nutritionally based withdrawal and a sauna detox as well as life skills training, Narconon has saved thousands upon thousands of addicted lives.

Jorden Narconon Arrowhead success

Jorden has experienced the Narconon program’s effectiveness. Regarding his addiction, he said, “Before I got to Narconon I was really messed up. I was doing drugs every day. I was sniffing coke and stealing. I was missing work. I was just going down the tubes.” Then finding Narconon Arrowhead, he got started right away so he could leave drugs behind for good.

The sauna detox portion of recovery uses a combination of supplemental vitamins and minerals, moderate exercise on a daily basis, and time in a sauna to flush out residual drugs and other toxic chemicals from the body. Jorden said, “The turning point in my program was the sauna portion. After you are done the sauna program you know your body is clean. The cravings and the desire to go back and use drugs—all that left after I did sauna. It was really good.”

Additionally, the life skills training puts the final touch on recovery. A series of courses leads the recovering addict along a path of discovery. He can find why he let his life get into the condition that caused him to need rehab. He also finds reliable tools and knowledge to take back home and put to use in his life so he will never need to turn to drugs or alcohol again.

Jorden smiled and said, “Now that I’m done with the Narconon program, I don’t even feel like the same person and I don’t look at life the same way as before. I can wake up every morning and I am actually awake and I’m HERE. It is unbelievable the changes that I’ve gone through. I’m really excited about everything in my future.”

The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program gives parents back their kids, gives spouses back their loved ones. It gives an addict his life back and provides our society with honest and productive members who will be an asset to the future.

An Addict to Both Drugs and Alcohol Finds Lasting Recovery

Substance abuse and addiction often consist of both drugs and alcohol. Addicts who are searching for that elusive high often end up abusing multiple drugs and adding alcohol to the mix.

This just makes their problem worse and speeds the destruction of their lives. Of the two million addicts entering rehab centers in one year, it has been found that around thirty-two percent of them are addicted to alcohol and one other drug.

Ken - Narconon Arrowhead graduate

Ken knows this kind of addiction. He was addicted to crack and powder cocaine and alcohol. He had distanced himself from his family and was finding life very hard to live. He said, “Basically I was on my own. I didn’t want to talk to my parents, my kids, anybody. My addictions were making my life spiral completely out of control.”

Finally, he found Narconon Arrowhead. Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that helps an addict become truly drug and alcohol-free, allowing him to live a life without needing to chase after drugs and alcohol in order to “feel normal” and stave off withdrawal sickness. Addressing the reasons why an addict begins drug abuse in the first place and relieving the cravings which often lead to relapse, Narconon is one of the most effective drug rehab programs in the world.

Ken was fully ready and willing to get off drugs when he arrived. He found the staff helpful and working hard to get him out of his old drug habits. He stated, “I felt really positive about being here.”

The Narconon New Life Detoxification, part of the overall treatment, was one of Ken’s favorite parts of his recovery process. This detox utilizes moderate exercise, a specific combination of vitamins and minerals and sauna time to remove harmful toxins and drug residues stored in the fat cells of the body. Ken said, “The part of the program that seemed to do the most for me was the sauna program. After about three weeks, there was a big difference. I didn’t have any more drug cravings. I felt like I was young again. This is when I first realized that this program really does work!”

The Narconon Life Skills Courses also prepare the recovering addict for a new life without drugs. This series of educational courses help the student learn how to repair and rebuild his old life into one where happiness and ability come to the forefront. Ken commented on one course—the Objectives Course—by saying, “On this course, we did exercises and different drills where it brought me out of my past and put me into the present. It made me feel really good about me now. This helped me a lot.”

Ken added, “Now that I’ve completed the Narconon program, I feel like a whole new man, a whole new dad, a whole new son, a whole new everything. Having the tools that Narconon has given me, I can go out into the real world and put them to use. I am really positive about getting out there and knowing I can stay clean this time.”

Narconon is a holistic rehabilitation program that has a been helping people recover from addiction for five decades. Ken can attest to the wonderful changes it made in his life, as he is now drug and alcohol-free and happy.

Turning an Addicted Life Around

An addict is lost. His (or her) addiction creates guilt and depression and a loss of self-confidence. The cravings take control of his life. He makes the wrong choices and his future looks grim. Kevin experienced all this and lost touch with who he really was. He was an addict, but finally, he found a successful drug rehab that helped him put all this misery behind him.

Kevin—Narconon Arrowhead graduate

The drug rehab program Kevin found was the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This drug rehab has taken those who have serious addictions and turned their lives around so they could remain off drugs or alcohol from here on out. First comes the withdrawal phase where, with nutritional support and careful monitoring and assistance by trained staff, the withdrawal is more tolerable than most.

After the withdrawal portion of the program, the recovering addict does a special kind of thorough detoxification which removes the toxic drug residues that linger within the body’s tissues. This sauna-based detox is effective in flushing out the residual drugs by employing a regimen of vitamins and minerals, time in a sauna and daily moderate exercise. Once these toxins are gone, most people say that their cravings are greatly reduced and the person normally feels much brighter and more alive.

The next phase of the Narconon program is life skills training. Here is where a recovering individual learns the life and coping skills necessary to live a drug-free life and not get pulled back into an addicted lifestyle. He is taught how to recognize the characteristics of those who would support him in his drug-free life, thus he is better able to choose those he associates with. He learns how to rebuild an honest and ethical life and is able to shed the guilt he carries with him so he can move forward.

Kevin described his wins doing the program. “I’ve had tremendous wins and gains here at Narconon. When I arrived I was scared, now I’m leaving with my self-confidence. That is one of the greatest gains I could have. Just applying myself on a day-to-day basis, I’ve been able to gain more self-confidence, to be honest, and really take control over my life again. I can understand what I want to be and who I want to be when I leave. Instead of being that guy who is freaked out all the time and always worrying about whether I can pay my bills, now I know I can pay my bills and be a good father. Now I can take care of business again.”

Kevin added, “I am really able to think freely again, to not be clouded and not be worried if I’ll get caught or that somebody is going to find out I’m using drugs. Now I’m free from that and I can make my own choices. I feel confident in my choices and I know honestly I am just downright a better person from it.”

And Kevin’s biggest gain? “It is funny to say but we all laugh, we all giggle, we all find things humorous. Well, I hadn’t truly laughed out loud, smiled or been enthusiastic about anything for a long time. Well, after about a month here, I got that laughter back. That was my biggest gain.”

The Narconon program helps addicts find their way back out from the trap of addiction. The downward spiral of drug or alcohol addiction can be reversed. Narconon is the best way to turn a life around and live a sober life, never needing to turn to drugs or alcohol again.

Kevin graduated the program at Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma.

Finding a Drug Rehab that Works

It is not unusual to find drug or alcohol addicts entering a treatment center, relapsing and heading back to rehab, over and over. This is a very unfortunate but true fact. Addicts often have a hard time finding lasting recovery. When an addict fails at maintaining sobriety, he (or she) will often feel quite hopeless that he can ever get his life back again or achieve the dreams that he once had. Kim felt this hopelessness. But she found a drug rehab that provided her with lasting success at finally leading a drug-free life.

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Kim

Kim said, “As an addict, I really had no hope for anything. Life was really very stressful. I went to a couple of Twelve Step programs but they didn’t really work. I would be there a couple days or a week or a month, and then I would just go back out and start using again right after I got out.”

When she found Narconon Arrowhead, she realized she found a program that was different than the others. Narconon addresses both the physical and mental dependency on drugs or alcohol, relieving them so the person can get back in control.

One very important step in Narconon recovery is the sauna-based detox that the recovering addict does after withdrawal. The Narconon New Life Detoxification is a unique combination of vitamin and mineral supplements, along with time spent in a low-heat sauna and some moderate exercise performed daily.

This strict regimen of detox, when followed exactly, flushes out residual drugs and toxins which have accumulated in the fatty tissues of the body. Once these drug residues are eliminated, the participant feels much more clear-headed, brighter and healthier. This detox also greatly reduces or even eliminates drug and alcohol cravings. This is vital for a recovering addict so he is able to better avoid relapsing.

Kim was very happy with this step of the program. She said, “After the sauna program I can now taste better. I can see better. In general, I feel better as a person. I feel healthy again.”

Once the person is completed on the sauna portion of the program, he will begin a series of courses. The Narconon Life Skills Courses provide an education in how to live a life without drugs or alcohol. The student often discovers how he ended up addicted so he can then avoid making the same mistakes in the future. He gets tools that he can use for the rest of his life to improve conditions, maintain a high responsibility level and keep his personal values intact.

Kim finished the Narconon program and said, “The results of the Narconon program are that I have my family back. My parents have their daughter back. My sister and I are now like best friends. It’s awesome! It’s great to have your trust back with your family. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my life.”

Narconon accomplishes this every day with addicts the world over. It is one of the most successful programs anywhere at achieving lasting recovery from addiction.

An Addict Gets Her Life under Control

Narconon graduate Lindsey

Lindsey found her life headed down a horrible path due to her addiction to crack cocaine and OxyContin. She became dishonest, lying and stealing from those dearest to her. She said, “I would steal from anybody and everybody to get money to get crack. Whatever I had to do, I would do it. I pawned stuff, even my mom’s jewelry.”

This is often the case with addiction. Lives become ruined, families destroyed. She added, “My life was a miserable wreck. I didn’t have a relationship with my family. I was sleeping different places every night or not sleeping. I didn’t know where I was going to end up. I had no friends or anybody really.” She knew this had to stop and with her parents’ help, went to the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program to find the lasting recovery she so desperately wanted.

The Narconon program begins with a drug-free withdrawal, so important in leaving all drugs behind and not replacing one addiction with another. With some drugs other than crack cocaine, such as benzodiazepines or heavy alcohol or opiate use, a person may need to complete a medical detox before starting the drug-free withdrawal at Narconon. But again, this is short-term medication-assisted withdrawal, not long-term substitute drugs.

Of her arrival at Narconon Lindsey stated, “When I arrived at Narconon, it was amazing. I saw all the people there laughing and having fun. There was a great camaraderie. I felt really comfortable. When I got to withdrawal, the staff were very helpful.”

Soon after withdrawal, the recovering addict starts the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This is a regimen which includes generous nutritional supplements combined with moderate daily exercise and sauna time. This flushes out the drug residues that build up in the tissues. Lindsey commented that this was the part of the program that really stood out for her. She said, “After being in the sauna I really felt great. I felt like a better person. I could smell better, taste better, see better, sleep better. I felt more energetic. It was great to get those toxins and built-up drugs from my years of drug use out of my system.”

Besides withdrawal and the unique detox done at Narconon, the participant will also study a series of courses that give him or her tools and knowledge about repairing a life of addiction and how to maintain a new sober life. These innovative courses are the final touch and really prepare the individual to go back home with a confidence that he will never have to turn to drugs or alcohol again.

Lindsey smiled and said, “I feel wonderful now that I’ve completed the Narconon program. This program saved my life. I’m a better daughter, a better granddaughter, a better friend. It’s so amazing. I’m so proud.”

Every day at Narconon, recovering addicts learn why it was they began drug use and thus know they won’t make the same mistakes. These people, young and old, leave Narconon knowing they have found themselves again and can lead productive and fulfilling lives without drugs.

Say Goodbye to the Guilt of Addiction

When an addict is buried deep in his (or her) addiction, he will often feel very strong guilt. This comes when the actions he takes in his life of addiction are harmful acts, driven by the cravings for more drugs or alcohol. First, he may just divert living expenses, but soon this escalates into stealing from those he loves. He lies to and manipulates others. A long list of transgressions occurs, and the addict seems powerless to stop them.

Arrowhead graduate Lou

Lou experienced just this sort of life, one where it was a constant chore of coming up with justifications for his actions. He said, “The use of drugs was a huge factor in my life and a weight on me. It brought me down to almost nothing. It was a guilt feeling of the things I had done in the past and how I hurt my family and of course, how I hurt myself. I felt lost. I was depressed. I felt helpless.”

He added, “I was trapped. A complete depression would overcome me and the only way to get rid of those guilt feelings and the intense depression was to use more drugs.” Addiction truly is a trap, one that can destroy a life completely.

Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that takes an addict through innovative recovery steps. The treatment not only gets him tolerably through withdrawal and flushes out drug residues with the Narconon New Life Detoxification, but also provides life skills training which effectively erases the guilt of past harmful acts. Skills covered include responsibility, integrity, communication and personal values. The Ups and Downs in Life Course teaches the person how to recognize those who would support his sobriety and how to avoid those who would drag him back into a life of addiction.

Lou discovered Narconon Arrowhead and began his journey back to sobriety. He went through withdrawal and stated how he started feeling better right away. He had not been fully sober for many years so not having the drugs in his system made a world of difference. He was happy with every aspect of the program and finally could shed his guilt and depression.

Lou said, “Every day I just felt better and better. It was not just one part of the program but the people here, the staff, just the overall atmosphere. Even to this day, I haven’t even taken an aspirin. I actually feel like I have a new life. Narconon has given me a new life. I wake up every day and just thank God that I’ve gotten up and that it is going to be a wonderful day. My family loves me and I love my family and everything just goes fine.”

Narconon is one of the most successful programs in its field in providing lasting recovery from addiction. The lives of addicts are healed every day and those who have finished the Narconon program become valuable members of society once again.

An Addict Achieves the Dream of Who He Wants to Be

Marty talks about his experience with Narconon

A person who is addicted to drugs or alcohol may have an idea of who he really wants to be. He may wish to be a sober person who is happy in life, with a family, a good-paying job, and dreams for the future. However, addiction does not permit these things to come into being. An addict is unhappy, depressed and isolated. His family is alienated and distrustful. He has lost jobs and had his dreams destroyed. Marty was a man who did drugs for thirty years and knows how devastating drug addiction can be.

Then Marty found Narconon Arrowhead. Although he began the program not knowing what to expect, he soon found his life completely changed. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program approaches addiction utilizing a variety of effective methodologies, addressing the underlying causes of physical and mental dependency. The first step is withdrawal, and this is made more tolerable by the expertise of those there to provide hands-on help. Nutritional support is also important in strengthening the body so the person is better able to cope with any difficulties withdrawal presents.

Marty spoke about his experience. “When I first got into withdrawal, the staff went out of their way to make me feel really comfortable. I was kind of freaked out and didn’t know what to expect. They were very helpful, very supportive. They told me this was my temporary home. And it did feel like home!”

But tolerable withdrawal is not the only thing that makes Narconon so special. A very important part of recovery from addiction is flushing out the residual drugs that become trapped in the fatty tissues of the body. These toxic residues are known to be associated with cravings, and thus when eliminated from the system, the recovering addict feels less prone to relapse. Additionally, the person with a cleansed body of toxins and poisons feels brighter and healthier. This is done in the New Life Detoxification program as the next major step after withdrawal.

Marty said, “The best part of the program for me was the sauna portion. After three weeks I felt incredible. I didn’t realize that I couldn’t smell before. It was probably from all the damage I did from doing drugs, snorting them. But now I could smell again. I could see better. I could hear better. I could taste better. I woke up in the morning really being awake. I had more energy. I could tell that all the poisons and toxins were out of my body. I felt great. And I still feel great.”

The final steps of the Narconon program are life skills training course. This is vital in providing the recovering individual with tools he can use to maintain a sober life. He learns how to restore relationships damaged by an addicted lifestyle. He finds information on how to rebuild his life and gain back his self-respect. He gets back self-control. He sheds any guilt, taking responsibility for past acts, and learns how to improve the different areas of his life so he can be successful and productive. All without the need to ever use substitution drugs.

Marty described his success with the Narconon program. “In the past when I was using drugs, I had this idea that I wanted to be a sober individual that people looked up to and who was fun-loving. Thanks to the information that I have learned at Narconon, I have become that person! I am very happy about it.”

Narconon is one of the most effective drug rehab programs in its field. Drug-addicted lives are healed every day around the world. When a former addict becomes a valuable member of society again, everybody wins.

An Addict Once Again has the Ability to Create

You often hear that addiction destroys lives. But what does this really mean? Imagine someone who is feeling horrible physically, depressed and confused mentally and unable to come to rational decisions. Get the idea of what it would be like to also be completely disconnected from family that you love, even your own children. Addiction turns lives upside down. This was Melissa only a few short years ago.

Arrowhead graduate tells her story

She said, “When addicted, my life was just in total shambles. I was running from everything I had ever known in the past. I was depressed about everything that I lost. My body felt horrible. My mind was in utter confusion and I really didn’t know what to do.”

She added, “My family hadn’t seen me in years. My children hadn’t seen me in a couple of years. At least they hadn’t seen their real mother because I was this addict that didn’t have time to be a mother.”

When Melissa found Narconon, she began to see some hope on the horizon. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is a successful rehab that takes on addiction from all angles. It addresses the key aspects of addiction, both the physical and mental dependency, in such a way that the recovering addict is proofed against relapse when he or she goes back home.

The entire Narconon program represents an innovative approach to drug recovery. One of the unique steps is the Narconon New Life Detoxification that follows a well-supported and tolerable withdrawal. The detox is effective in flushing out poisonous drug residues accumulated in the tissues. These residual drugs have been associated with the triggering of drug cravings, even long after someone has stopped using drugs. Thus eliminating them from the system greatly assists someone in maintaining a sober life.

Melissa commented on this part of the Narconon program. “Once I had finished the sauna portion of the program, I noticed my body felt better and I could think more clearly. I could rationalize my thoughts because I didn’t have the drugs in my body anymore clogging me up. I felt a thousand times better.”

After the sauna-based detox, the recovering person does life skill training. While addicted, a person not only loses his skills to deal with life, he (or she) also doesn’t know how to repair all the damage he created while addicted.

The Narconon Life Skills Courses give the student a chance to analyze how he ended up an addict, and this is vital in preventing the person from making the same mistakes. No one tells him what he did wrong. This never really helps anyone. It is finding out for himself where he went wrong that makes all the difference.

Melissa said, “Now that I’ve gone through the program—and I’ve been clean for a couple of years now—my life is better than it has ever been—since I’ve been born! I have my family back. I have my friends back. I have my abilities to create back. I’m happy and doing things that I want to do.”

Narconon saves addicted lives every day. It is the first choice for effective drug and alcohol rehabilitation for any addict.

A Teen Headed Down the Dark Path of Addiction

When teens get involved in drug use, all their hopes and dreams seem to disappear. Parents who had hope that their son or daughter would grow to be happy and prosperous find their hopes evaporate as they see their child swept up in a storm of addiction. Kids drop out of school and pursue the high full-time, often turning to crime to support their habits. Michelle was one young girl who was fast on the path to an existence of horror. Her parents would have nothing to look forward to with their daughter except perhaps her spending her youth in prison.

Michelle Narconon graduate

Michelle describes her life of addiction. “I was addicted to heroin for two years and my life wasn’t really going anywhere. I had dropped out of school. I moved in with my boyfriend and was just getting high. I was getting in a lot of trouble, getting arrested.”

Then her family found the alternative drug rehab program, Narconon. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program has been helping people individuals recover from addiction for five decades. Two particularly innovative phases of this program contribute to the success Michelle and many others have found in beating their addiction. First, the Narconon New Life Detoxification comes after withdrawal and flushes out the drug residues trapped in the fatty tissues of the addict’s body. This clears the body and the mind, giving the participant a much clearer outlook on life and leaves him feeling clean and healthy.

Michelle felt a big difference as she moved through the recovery program. She said, “My biggest success at Narconon was when I was about halfway through the program. I just started feeling I was more in control of my life. Nothing else was controlling me and I could just take charge and really do what I wanted to do.”

Following the detox, the recovering addict studies unique life skills courses. This study gives him (or her) the knowledge so vitally needed when he returns home. The student analyzes how he came to be addicted and can thus avoid making the same mistakes. He learns how to repair damaged areas of his life. He learns or re-learns skills that help him deal with life’s twists and turns so he doesn’t have to turn to drugs or alcohol again.

Michelle said, “The Narconon program has given me a whole new outlook on life. I really feel I can do anything I want now. I can confront any problem that I have now instead of turning to drugs to run away from it. I’m going back to school now and getting my life together.”

Narconon has a holistic approach to addiction. An addict leaves drugs behind and also can finally shed the guilt of past harmful actions, take responsibility and gain new personal values that will help them for the rest of his life. Narconon should be the first choice in drug rehab when you want the best for a loved one.

Michelle completed the program at Narconon Arrowhead.

Lifting the Guilt and Depression of Addiction

Narconon graduate Mike

Mike knows how addiction can lead to awful feelings of guilt. Criminal behavior is common when someone is addicted, as his (or her) need for more drugs overtakes reason and he only wants to stop the withdrawal symptoms that are making life so miserable. The state that his life has become creates a deep depression which itself becomes a barrier to recovery.

Mike said, “When addicted, I had stolen, I had lied. I had cheated my family and my friends. I was losing friends left and right. Every time I had tried to quit using drugs, the withdrawal symptoms made me sick. I’d get so sick, to the point where I didn’t care what I had to do to stop being sick.”

However, life does not have to continue this way and Mike also found this out. He found the Narconon program. With Narconon’s effective method of recovery, an addict is provided the route to lasting recovery. Narconon addresses all the key points of addiction so a person leaves the program with the best chance of staying sober from here on out.

There are three major steps to recovery at Narconon. The first is withdrawal, with innovative and successful ways to overcome the sickness and pain of withdrawal symptoms. The trained and caring staff monitor the recovering addict and provide nutritional support as well as techniques that assist in relieving the pain and discomfort of withdrawal. The second step is the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This sauna detox includes vitamin and mineral supplements as well as daily moderate exercise. This combination flushes out harmful drug residues which linger in the body long after someone stops using drugs.

The third part of the Narconon program is truly invaluable in supporting a sober lifestyle. This final phase consists of life skills training where the participant learns how to restore and rebuild a drug-free life. He learns how to choose his friends based on whether they will support a sober lifestyle or not. He discovers many tools which he can use to improve his life, both now and into the future. The student learns a lot about responsibility, integrity, and honesty. He can then live an ethical and productive life.

Mike said, “When I got into the second half of the Narconon program I really started to get my life back. I started getting my energy back. I started feeling better about myself. A lot of the guilt and a lot of the depression that I was feeling because of my drug use was actually starting to lift. It was going away.”

He continued, “I now have beaten my addiction to prescription medicines. I no longer have to use them. I no longer have to take them to function every day. All of a sudden, my life felt complete again. After I finished the program, I have my family back. I have my life back. I have my daughter back. It is just a feeling that can’t be explained.”

Narconon gives an addict the best route to recovery, with the full package for lasting sobriety.

Mike completed the drug rehab program at Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma.

Reborn Out of a Life of Heroin Addiction

Mitch Narconon Arrowhead graduate

Heroin addiction destroys the mind, the body, the very soul of the addict. This dangerously addictive drug has destroyed many lives, causing illness, emotional desperation and many times death to the user. Mitch was a heroin addict and was quite familiar with the horrors of addiction. He said, “When I was addicted to heroin I was living on the streets. I was stealing from my family to get the drug. I was always sick as I was coming down from heroin. Finally I was doing drugs just so I could be well. It was terrible. My life was totally terrible.”

Finding Narconon Arrowhead was his first step towards sobriety. He knew he was done with drugs and just wanted to get off them. He had tried a lot of other rehabs but Narconon seemed the best one for him. He said, “When I first got to Narconon, I was really nervous and kind of scared. But the staff treated me great. They made me feel like I didn’t have a ‘disease.’ They made it really easy to come off the drugs. It was a great withdrawal. It was the easiest withdrawal I ever had.”

The Narconon treatment is a holistic way of addressing the aspects of dependency. After the nutritionally based withdrawal phase, the participant does the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This effective detox flushes out toxic drug residues by having the individual take part in moderate daily exercise, take plenty of vitamin and minerals supplements and spend time in a low-heat sauna.

This was one of the turning points for Mitch. He described his experience with this innovative detox: “I saw the biggest change in myself after I got out of the sauna. I didn’t have any more drug dreams or any more cravings. I felt really healthy. I was sleeping and eating well and looked healthy. I would call my parents on the phone and they told me I sounded so much better. I suddenly had a good outlook for my future. I finally had hope that my life could be worth something.”

The last step of the Narconon program is unique life skills training. Here the recovering addict looks back on his past actions and analyses his mistakes, learns how to repair damaged areas of his life and gains knowledge on how to live a new life without drugs.

Mitch said, “Now that I’m finished with the Narconon program, I see a big future for myself. I don’t have to worry about going back and using the drugs because I have no desire to use them anymore. I can’t begin to tell you what I got out of this program. It has totally changed my life for the better. I’m ready to take on the world again. I feel like I’ve been reborn.

Kicking the Addiction Habit for Good

Narconon Arrowhead Mitch tells his story

The tragedy of the life of an addict is sometimes hard to understand until you listen to the story of one heroin addict. Mitch explains. “When I was addicted to heroin, my life was a complete disaster. Nothing mattered to me—my family, my friends, my job. I just threw it all away. The only thing I cared about was that drug. I’d do anything possible to get it and it didn’t matter who or what I messed up. I completely destroyed relationships. My life was in shambles. I couldn’t function at all without the drug.”

He had tried before to get clean. He said, “I had been to four other rehabs and I completed all of them. I was clean when I completed each of them. But the cravings would kick right back in and I would immediately go and relapse into drug use. I’d give in to the cravings.”

Then Mitch found Narconon. A very different approach to addiction treatment than the traditional facilities available today, Narconon truly gives an addict the chance for a drug-free life, one where dreams can once again come true and life is fun again.

The first step is the withdrawal phase, and this time, it is one that the participant does not need to dread. Mitch found withdrawal to be nothing like previous times. He said, “When I first got to the withdrawal portion of the program, it was unlike anything I’d ever seen. They give you vitamins and other supplements that make the withdrawal symptoms minimal. It’s amazing. Usually, with the withdrawal symptoms, you don’t want to move, you can’t get up, you’re just lying there dying and screaming. But at Narconon, I didn’t go through any of that. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen before.”

Once the withdrawal is complete, the recovering addict goes on to begin the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This sauna-based detox removes drug residues and toxins so the person does not get the harmful effects of residual drugs that have been stored in the fatty tissues. These poisonous residual drugs are known to be a contributing factor to the generation of drug cravings. When they are eliminated, the person notices the difference. Mitch was amazed by the sauna portion of the program and said, “The sauna detox completely changed me. Once I completed it, I felt better than I’d ever felt in my entire life. I felt even better than before I started using drugs. I felt so clean and pure.”

In addition to the relatively comfortable withdrawal and the thorough and innovative detoxification, the Narconon program includes life skills training that is invaluable in maintaining a sober life. This training is not just reading materials but includes exercises that help the student learn to apply the knowledge he gains to his life. He learns reliable tools which he can actually use to improve conditions in every area of his life and in his relationships. Life skills training can help him maintain that sobriety for the rest of his life.

Mitch talked about the things he learned at Narconon. “At Narconon, you learn how to stay clean, and that’s the biggest thing. You get tools and things to do when you are out there in the real world to help you stay clean and be around the right people and the right environments. It’s like a safeguard for your own sobriety.”

He added, “When I completed the Narconon program it was one of the best feelings in my life. I had that certainty that I was never going to have to rely on another drug for the rest of my life. I had myself back! You know when you look at your baby pictures and you see that little kid and he is just so happy? I actually felt like I had that kid back. I was just happy to be alive!”

Narconon helps addicts overcome addiction. It is a problem that is something that can be fixed. As Mitch says, “That is all addiction is—a problem. It’s not a disease; it’s nothing that is incurable. It is very definitely curable and you can have your life back.”

Narconon is so proud to help men and women of all ages get their life back and go on to fulfill their dreams. It is an addict’s chance to kick addiction for good with the Narconon program.

Mitch completed the program at Narconon Arrowhead.

An Addict Makes Her Way Back from being Lost in Addiction

When addicts wish to turn their lives around, they may spend years looking for a way out of the trap of addiction. After a traditional rehab program, they can sometimes stay sober for a short while, but it is very common for many recovering addicts to relapse soon after returning home. The addict carries on with a life filled with desperation, creating heartbreak for his or her family having reduced hope for happiness!

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Pat

Pat was an addict for thirty years and knew what it was to suffer from addiction. She said, “When I was using drugs, it was very bleak. I had no desire to clean my home, to take care of my children, to take care of myself. The only thing I wanted to do is go out there and find the drugs and get high. I loved my family, I loved my sisters, I loved my daughters, my mother, and father, but it didn’t stop me. I just survived to get the drugs.”

She added, “For ten years I desired to live a drug-free life. I went to other rehabs, I went to different counseling programs, I went to psychologists. I went to all these people trying to find answers to my drug addiction. It was Narconon that gave me my answers.

The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is a multi-faceted approach to addiction that facilitates recovery without using long-term substitute drugs, which many consider trading one addiction for another. The treatment is effective in getting a recovering addict through withdrawal and through a unique detox that strips away residual drugs trapped in the body’s fatty tissues. It also provides a series of life skills courses that prepare the recovering individual for an ethical, productive life without drugs.

Pat had been through withdrawal before, but the withdrawal at Narconon was a new experience for her. She said, “I never thought I could successfully come off of drugs without using other drugs. But at Narconon I had people there all the time, making sure I got fed. They were very caring. They were very loving, and they got me through the withdrawal part of the program.”

Some people may require a medically assisted wean down when coming of certain drugs such as benzos or heavy alcohol, and in those cases, may begin the drug-free withdrawal at Narconon once that is completed.

Narconon is one of the most successful rehab programs in the field, with a high success rate of lasting recovery from addiction. Those who finish the program often make comments like Pat did, “The biggest thing I got out of the Narconon program is I got life back. I got a life where I can live happily, successfully and productively without the use of drugs.

She added, “After suffering from drug addiction for over thirty years, I’ve been clean for two and a half years after completing the Narconon program. And I’m happy. I wake up every morning just wanting to go out there and be alive again and it feels really good. And my family has a mother, sister, and daughter back.”

Narconon isn’t just a partial solution. The Narconon program has the full package, the entire route to a drug-free and productive life. It is an effective choice in drug rehabs to achieve a fulfilling life without drugs.

A Crack Addict Goes from Thief to Family Man

The family of an addict is often appalled at the levels to which an addict will stoop to get his (or her) next pill or drink. The child that was on the honor roll or who had such incredible dreams for the future is suddenly stealing everything that isn’t nailed down to sell for drug money. This is so unlike their loved one that the family members can hardly believe it is happening. However, the person addicted to drugs or alcohol throws aside all personal values and ethics as the cravings drive him further and further down. Phillip knows what this is all about because he has been there.

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Phillip

Phillip describes how his life was when addicted. “From the age of twenty, I started smoking crack. I had stolen from my mother, done a lot of bad things to my wife and hurt my children. I had been through several rehab programs but for six years I didn’t think there was any hope—not until coming to Narconon.”

Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehab program that provides comprehensive treatment for lasting recovery. The staff truly care for and help the recovering addict move through the program and gain increased confidence and certainty that he can go back home and leave drugs behind forever. This is what recovery is all about. Drug or alcohol addiction is not considered an incurable disease at Narconon. It is completely possible to recover from addiction and stay clean without an ongoing struggle or ongoing counseling and meetings.

The program begins with the withdrawal from the addict’s drug or drugs of choice. The nutritional support helps strengthen the body. With one-on-one work with the trained staff, the recovering addict discovers that withdrawal at Narconon may be the most tolerable experience he ever had getting off drugs. Phillip said, “Coming to the Narconon withdrawal program, I was coming in from a seven-day crack binge. When I got there, the staff were very nice and friendly. They helped me come down from the drug, get through the anxiety and depression.”

In addition, to flush out residual drugs lodged in the fatty tissues of the body, the Narconon program has as an important step—the sauna detox. This is the Narconon New Life Detoxification where, by employing time in a sauna, moderate daily exercise, and generous nutritional supplements, these residues are eliminated from the tissues. Afterwards, the recovering addict feels clean, healthy and often comments about how his cravings are greatly reduced, or even gone.

The life skills training is another integral part of recovery. Through the study several courses, the participant learns many things that will enhance his ability to stay sober after finishing the program. For instance, the recovering person learns how to improve his communication on the Objectives Course and then goes through a series of exercises that help him recover the brightness of perceptions that was lost during heavy drug abuse. Additionally, the guilt that an addict carries with him for all his past misdeeds is addressed on the Personal Values Course.

Phillip did both these courses and said, “My biggest win was just being able to have good communication and a really good relationship with my wife and my mother—being able to talk to them and look them in the eyes without any remorse or regrets for the things I’ve done to them.”

Phillip added, “The Narconon program gave me the tools and the knowledge on how to actually stay clean for good. I learned that I wasn’t actually an addict and I wasn’t in this hopeless situation and that I could change my life. Now I’ve been clean for two and a half years.” Phillip’s life is on track and he is back in control. This can be the case for anyone addicted to drugs or alcohol when doing the Narconon program.

Phillip completed his drug rehab program at Narconon Arrowhead.

A Parent Sees Her Son Saved from a Life of Addiction

Parents go through a sort of hell when a child is addicted to drugs. The child they knew as happy and full of life has become a completely different person— isolated, depressed, sick, unhappy. It tears a mother and father apart to watch their child’s life turn into a shambles.

Rayma speaks about her sons success at Narconon

Rayma knows the situation well. Her son was addicted to drugs.

She said, “It was one of the most traumatic times in our lives. It was really hard. It felt really hopeless. We took him to counselors and we took him to doctors. He ended up in jail. He ended up in prison. There was absolutely nothing we could do. It just seemed that no matter what we did, no matter how hard we tried, it just got worse and worse. It was like all of us were dying. His addiction affected every one of us.”

Then she found Narconon and got her son into the program. Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehab program that provides the whole package of recovery—from withdrawal and a sauna-based detox that flushes out residual drugs out of the body, to unique and effective life skills training. A series of life skills courses prepare the recovering addict to go back home with tools that he can use to maintain his sobriety.

Rayma noticed many changes with her son as he went through the Narconon program. She said, “After he finished the sauna part of the program, you could see a remarkable difference. You could see it in his countenance and in his ability to concentrate. He was more “there.” Before, it always seemed like he was preoccupied. Now he was able to communicate and be there for us and for himself.”

She added, “The Narconon program I believe is one of the most thought-out and thorough programs ever. It consists of things you would never even think of.” What she is referring to is the Narconon Life Skills Courses. The subjects the student studies are topics such as responsibility, personal values, integrity, communication and recognizing social and antisocial personalities. With the latter study, the student is able to identify those people who would drag him down and those who would support his new drug-free life. He can associate with more positive people and not be led back into an addicted lifestyle.

Rayma commented further, “Since the Narconon program he is able to be the person I knew he was and who he knew he was. He is an absolutely wonderful human being, he just happened to have an addiction. Now that he is straightened out, he knows how to deal with life. He has now been clean for three years. Every day he finds something new about life and can absorb and enjoy every day. He can enjoy his wife and his children. It is great to see him live that kind of existence.”

Every parent wants the best for their children. When a child is addicted, get them to Narconon so they can achieve lasting recovery from addiction.

Rayma’s son graduated the drug rehab program at Narconon Arrowhead.

The Narconon Program Builds You Up

A person addicted to drugs or alcohol struggles day in and day out with feelings of depression, guilt and shame. Down deep he (or she) knows that he has lost control, that the things he is doing are wrong. Although an addict often turns to theft to get money for the substance of his choice, he knows this is wrong. However, it is extremely hard to admit to these things, and impossible to simply “turn off” the cravings.

Rebecca talks about her experience at Narconon

The intense urge to take drugs or alcohol drives an addict to do things he would never normally do and he has to justify his actions to everyone, even himself. Rebecca was an addict. She knows how awful it can be. And she knows that finding an effective drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is vital for lasting recovery.

Rebecca talked about her previous experience with addiction. “I was fighting with my parents, everything was going downhill and I was definitely on the verge of losing my family for good, dying, or going to jail.” These are usually the only outcomes for someone addicted to drugs or alcohol unless they get effective help.

She added, “I went to a rehab before and it didn’t work out for me. It was a Twelve Step and I loved it but something didn’t click.” She needed further help and that is when she found Narconon.

Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program with centers around the world, offering one of the best chances at lasting sobriety. The recovery program is extensive and thorough. At Narconon, the recovering addict first completes the withdrawal phase, then goes on to do the New Life Detoxification. This phase consists of a sauna detox unlike any other. The program is a moderate regimen of daily exercise, vitamin supplements, minerals and time in a sauna which effectively flushes out drug residues stored in the body’s tissues.

The last phase of the Narconon program is life skills training. This is where the recovering addict learns how to live without drugs. He finds out the necessary tools and knowledge which he can apply so as to have a happy, productive and ethical life. A series of courses give each participant the knowledge necessary to face the twists and turns that life can throw at him without his needing to turn to drugs or alcohol again.

One of the courses is the Objectives Course. The student finds out how to effectively communicate to others. Each student then helps another through a series of exercises intended to improve each participant’s perception of their present environment rather than being stuck in the past. Both these factors are vital in living a successful life.

Rebecca was about to lose her family when addicted but after the Narconon program said, “The biggest win for me on the Narconon program is—my parents, I can talk to them. I can actually have a full conversation with them. They are very proud of me and happy.”

Rebecca added. “I think the Narconon program is so successful because it teaches you how to live. It concentrates on the present time and into the future. It doesn’t talk about war stories from the past and bring you down. It helps build you up. I really like that about this program.”

Narconon helps each individual on an individual basis. The staff care so much for each recovering addict and know that true lasting recovery is possible.

Rebecca got her life back at the Narconon Arrowhead rehab center.

A Heroin Addict Regains Control over his Life

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Richie

Addiction sends a life out of control. The ability to make common-sense decisions disappears, the dreams one once pursued become a thing of the past. An addict is overcome with hopelessness that anything can ever be different. Richie knew this state of affairs well. He was addicted to heroin and alcohol. He wanted to change and get off drugs, but it didn’t seem possible.

Richie said, “When addicted I had no hope left and I was in a real bad place in my life. I tried numerous programs and nothing ever worked for me. I just couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. The question I kept asking myself was what was wrong. Why can’t I get this? I was resigned to the fact that I was going to be addicted to heroin for the remainder of my life.”

Then his sister found Narconon. Narconon is an alternative drug and alcohol rehab program that uses innovative methods for lasting recovery. With a sauna-based detox to eliminate drug residues that have built up in the body and effective life skills training, this program provides a precise path to overcome from addiction and live a fulfilling, productive drug-free life.

Richie says that his sister saved his life by finding Narconon for him. “Doing the Narconon program allowed me to regain the control over my life that I had lost. When I was using drugs and alcohol, I had no control at all. I was in a state of confusion. I couldn’t make proper decisions. To regain control over my life and the decisions I make in life was empowering.”

Richie wanted parents or friends of someone addicted to drugs or alcohol to know about Narconon. He said, “If I was a concerned parent or loved one of someone who had a drug problem or an alcohol problem, I would recommend that they contact Narconon. They will help you deal with your loved one and the procedures to get him into a treatment facility. The staff here are incredible.”

Richie added, “Now that I completed the Narconon program I have regained total control of my life. I am able to make life decisions. I can achieve anything I want to achieve. Before Narconon, I was not able to function as a productive human being in life. Now I have the tools to have self-control, to be a dad, to be a brother and to be a good son. It is totally amazing. It truly saved my life.”

Narconon is proud to make positive changes in the lives of addicts. This program saves addicted lives every day and gives families back their loved ones.

Richie graduated from Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma.

Improving Life by Improving Communication Skills

Some addicts can hide their addiction. They can function in life, although the drug problem is always there, haunting them and affecting them in ways they may not realize until it is too late. One thing that affects someone addicted to drugs or alcohol is the problem of communication. A lack of the ability to communicate can create chaos with family relationships. Rick was a drug addict who was on the verge of losing his family due to his drug-related communication problems.

Narconon graduate Rick

Rick explains his life as a drug addict. “I was a functioning drug addict. I held a good job. I kept my life pretty much in order, except for the drug problem. However, it eventually spiraled out of control and I lost a lot of communication with my family. I stopped being a good dad and husband. I knew then I needed help. I confessed to everyone what was going on. They found Narconon for me.

Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that gets the addict through a drugless withdrawal and uses a sauna detox regimen to eliminate drug residues stored in the body’s tissues. Rick commented on the withdrawal by saying, “When I first came to Narconon, I was nervous. But when I got to withdrawal, everyone was so helpful. They got me in the groove about being here and what to expect.” He also did the Narconon New Life Detoxification to flush out those toxic residual drugs, clearing his body of the substances that lodge in the tissues and have been known to activate drug cravings, even years after someone has stopped using drugs.

In addition to these effective methods of addressing the physical aspects of addiction, Narconon also has a series of courses that teach the recovering addict important life skills. So many abilities are lost in an addictive lifestyle, particularly the ability to communicate effectively. On the Objectives course, the student finds how to improve his communication skills and attain brighter perceptions through a series of innovative exercises.

Rick said, “The thing that had the biggest impact on me in the program was the Objectives Course. I learned how to acknowledge people when they talk to me and really listen to what they say. That was my biggest win—how to confront people and how to really communicate with them.

Like thousands of others the world over, Rick’s life changed after completing the Narconon program. He described what it did for him. “Since I’ve finished I feel awesome. I’ve had the best communication with my parents and my wife and my kids. It’s been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. I no longer crave for drugs, even when I associate with people who do drugs. My work is much improved. I really produce on my job and get a lot of things done.” And just like tens of thousands of others who have done the Narconon program, Rick can once again live a happy and productive life.

Rick graduated the Narconon drug rehab program in Oklahoma.

An Addicted Criminal Life Turned Around For Good

Drug abuse and addiction lead to a life of lies, deceit, and misery. When a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol, he (or she) will steal or do whatever he has to in order to get that next fix or that next drink. Honesty and integrity mean nothing anymore. Satisfying those intense cravings becomes an obsession and compulsion. Crime in today’s society often comes from people who are addicted.

Rob Narconon Arrowhead graduate

Rob knows that his drug abuse resulted in the criminal acts that followed. But for him, it didn’t have to be that way forever. He found a way to turn his life around.

Rob described his life of addiction. “My life was chaotic. I was robbing people, selling drugs, trying to get by to the next day. I was always worrying about getting high. I was in and out of jail. I was just doing the wrong things.“ Then he found Narconon.

The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program can provide lasting recovery from addiction. The first step at Narconon is to go through withdrawal, which is done with no drug substitute therapy of any kind. In the case where a person requires medically assisted wean down, they would complete this before starting the Narconon program. On the drug-free withdrawal, an individual is supported with generous nutritional supplementation to help build up his health after the years of addiction. After the person is done with the withdrawal process, he or she then completes the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This sauna detox uses daily exercise, nutritional supplements and time in a sauna to remove drug residues and toxins from the body, cleaning the body and clearing the mind.

The next phase of the treatment at Narconon consists of the Objectives and other life skills courses. This study permits the recovering addict to discover his own weak areas that need improvement and provides insight into why he began abusing drugs in the first place. For example, on the Objectives, specific exercises increase the student’s ability to simply be in the present, making him (or her) more comfortable and alert.

Rob told about how the Objectives Course helped him. “The drills and exercises on this course just bring you back into the present. It helps you realize what is going on around you.

Another course, called the Personal Values Course, gives the recovering addict the way to take responsibility for the things he or she did in a life of addiction. Rob said, “It helps you get over what you did. It helps you move on from the bad stuff that you did so you can live productive and clean.

Smiling, Rob added, “Now that I’ve completed the program, I can do as much as I want. I can do whatever I want and can have anything I want. I feel like I’m ready to take on the whole world. “Rob is drug-free and can live a happy and fulfilling life without turning to drugs ever again. This is what Narconon can provide to anyone addicted to drugs or alcohol.

Leaving the Guilt and Shame Behind

Many addicts fall into criminal activity to support their habit. It is a common practice for an addict to steal from family members and friends in order to get the money for the next pill, injection or drink. Although the person addicted to drugs or alcohol may never have previously done such things, the cravings push him (or her) to do things he would never have even considered before. Due to this, the addict feels guilt and shame. This is a huge barrier to recovery.

Narconon Graduate Russ tells his story

Russ was addicted to drugs and could not even get out of bed in the morning without getting high. He said, “I had been stealing from my dad, and my family had pretty much had it with me.” He had not spoken to his mother in a couple of years. His family was torn apart because of his actions.

When Russ found Narconon, he knew something was different about this program. He said, “I never really made it more than a few days at any of the other rehab facilities that I went through. This program worked great for me. I don’t know what I would have done without it.”

Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that is the full package for recovery from addiction. Both the physical and mental dependency must be addressed thoroughly, and the Narconon program does just this. Eliminating some of the physical dependency is accomplished with a withdrawal from the drug of choice or from alcohol. However, that does not cover all of the factors of physical dependence. At Narconon, a sauna-based detox is done to flush out the drug residues that have accumulated in the body. These residual drugs have been associated with the triggering of cravings for drugs or alcohol. Once these toxins are gone, the recovering addict finds greatly reduced cravings, and sometimes the cravings are completely gone.

Russ found relief from physical cravings and this changed his life. He said, “My biggest win on the Narconon program was the fact that I could go to bed and get up in the morning and not have to get high to get out of bed - to be able to get up and be a functional human being again rather than being addicted to the drugs.”

The final steps of the Narconon program are courses which effectively educate the recovering individual in living a life without drugs and without the need to turn to drugs or alcohol again. The student discovers what responsibility is all about and can be accountable for his actions once again. He is able to rid himself of all the guilt he carries from his past misdeeds. One course that accomplishes this is called the Personal Values Course. On this course, he confronts the things he did wrong in the past. Once this is done, he can then move forward into the future with a clear heart and mind. Removing the guilt and shame eliminates a huge barrier to recovery.

Russ said, “Since I’ve completed the Narconon program my life has completely changed. Every day when I get out of bed now I know I’m going to be a successful person in life. I know that I don’t have to get up and use drugs. I know that I don’t have to go out and rob or steal from people to get what I need. It’s just great to know that when I get up in the morning I can go to work and be a happy member of society.”

The Narconon program offers a method for accomplishing lasting sobriety for a person addicted to drugs or alcohol. Lasting recovery is what it is all about, and an addict can gain back a sober life and his family can gain back an ethical and productive member.

Russ got his life back at Narconon Arrowhead.

The Progression from Marijuana through Opiates and to a Destroyed Life

Russ - a Narconon Arrowhead graduate

According to a study conducted at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, scientists found that marijuana can lead to the use of harder drugs. The study showed that the use of marijuana affected natural chemicals in the brain and provided a sense of “reward” which could make a person vulnerable to the use of harder drugs later. Some may call this “chasing the high.” Russ found this to be true. He started using marijuana when he was twelve or thirteen and by the time he was nineteen, he said he had used just about every drug.

Russ said, “I was pretty hardcore on drug use. I was using a lot of Ecstasy and a lot of Xanax, cocaine, and OxyContin. My life had just gone down the tubes.” Addiction causes many harmful effects in addict’s life. Russ added, “When it came to my family, I didn’t have a relationship anymore. I didn’t see them anymore. I didn’t care about seeing them which was the worst part.”

Russ found Narconon Arrowhead and decided he was going to get off these drugs that were destroying him. A Narconon facility offers a comprehensive drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. There are dozens of centers all over the world that deliver this innovative method of coming off drugs for good.

In Rob’s case, he wasn’t required to do a medical wean down from the drugs he was on and was happy to discover that he wouldn’t be given substitutes as part of his recovery. He said, “When I got here I was definitely skeptical about the drug-free rehab. But when I got into withdrawal, everybody was great. They treat you really nice. They do everything they have to do to make you comfortable. That was the best part about withdrawal. It was laid back. They were taking care of you.”

The next major step is the Narconon New Life Detoxification. By employing daily moderate exercise, nutritional supplements of vitamin and minerals and time in a sauna, this program eliminates the drug residues that have accumulated in the tissues. When Russ talked about this part of the program, he said, “It gave me the cleanest body. It was wonderful! My skin was baby-soft. I felt drug-free and completely clear. My head was clear and my body was clean. I felt great!”

The final step of Narconon recovery is life skills training. The knowledge and tools provided give a recovering addict what he or she needs to go back home and maintain a drug-free life. Russ was asked what his favorite part of the program was and he replied, “My favorite part of this program is really the whole program. You get through the sauna portion and it takes care of your body and your mind—cleans it out. Then the rest of the program gets you prepared for the world. It gives you the information you need to know in order to be confident about going out there in the real world and not use drugs. And I believe I have all the information I need to put it to use. It’s going to be great. I’m very confident about it.”

A Former Addict Tells How She Found Accountability

Addiction is like a fire that burns inside. Forever needing to feed the flames of addiction, the addict will do or say anything to get that next pill or that next drink. This never-ending quest takes everything from the person—his responsibility, integrity, honesty, family, and future. It becomes vital to find a drug rehab program that will address all aspects of addiction so the addict can find lasting sobriety. Ryan had searched for recovery to no avail.

Narconon Arrowhead graduate - Ryan

She said, “My life was miserable. I had lost everything that was important to me. I was using heroin every day, cheating my friends, stealing from my family, doing everything I could just to feed my addiction.” She tried other rehab programs but was unable to shed her addiction.

When she found the Narconon Arrowhead rehab program, she said, “My first impression of Narconon was awe. It was so different than other treatment programs I had been to. The staff made me feel really comfortable and unafraid. They let me be who I was at the time and made me really positive about looking forward to the changes I would experience here. I just was really comfortable.”

Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program quite unlike any other. After the initial withdrawal phase, the recovering addict goes through a sauna-based detox where residual drugs stored in the body’s tissues are eliminated. Then the person begins a study of life skills—training in how to restore and repair an addicted lifestyle. These courses make it possible to go back into the world drug-free and never have to turn to drugs or alcohol again.

One of the courses done is called the Personal Values Course. This course provides a way to analyze the past and harmful acts committed, and by doing so find relief from guilt. Ryan said, “The part of the program that stood out the most and had the most impact on me was the Personal Values Course. This is where you take responsibility for your mistakes, for the people you have wronged and for the harm you’ve done to yourself over the years through your addiction. This made me really accountable for the damage I had caused. I was able to put it behind me and look forward to living an ethical life and doing the right thing.

Those attending the Narconon program get effective tools and knowledge that help them maintain sober lives. Ryan said, “Now that I’m done with the program, I just feel like I have a new confidence and that there’s nothing I can’t achieve. I feel new again. I feel life is for the taking. I’m married now and so happy to have a future in front of me—a bright future.”

Mixing Drugs can be Deadly

Many addicts suffer from more than one addiction. An example is alcohol and crack cocaine. Although these two drugs mix dangerously, many addicts use both to increase the feeling of euphoria. However, when alcohol and crack cocaine combine in the liver, a chemical is produced which increases the risk of death from this mixture. Toxic chemicals released can result in heart failure. Sandra was one person who was addicted to crack and alcohol. She was lucky she didn’t die.

Sandra Arrowhead graduate

She said, “I was addicted to alcohol and crack. I started using drugs when I was nineteen so I was using for a total of twenty-seven years of my life. And it totally ruined my life. Using drugs destroyed me. I lost my family. I couldn’t keep a job. I would get a paycheck and leave. I could never be on time. I was staying up all night. I couldn’t keep any relationships. Drugs and alcohol destroyed everything around me.”

When Sandra found Narconon Arrowhead, she had some hope that she could restore a lost life and get back her lost dreams. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program addresses both the physical and mental dependencies on drugs and alcohol. A very important part of the program is that it does not rely on substitute drugs as a means of treatment. The drug-free withdrawal, which would follow any medical detox needed, allows the person to fully come off drugs leave all addictions behind, not replacing one with another. The sauna-based detox flushes out drug residuals which linger in the body long after a person stops using drugs.

Additionally, the recovering addict learns important information in rebuilding a life without drugs. As the final step of recovery, the participant does the Narconon Life Skills Courses which give effective knowledge and reliable tools to use in a new drug-free life. These tools are hers to use for the rest of her life. She learns how to live in the present and gains responsibility, personal values, and integrity.

Through the use of drills and exercises, the student finds she can be free of the past and exist in the present. This makes life so much more rewarding. Sandra says this was her favorite part of the program. She said, “The most effective part of the program for me was getting out of the past. I stayed in the past all the time. That part of the program woke me up. I could see things differently. I mean, it was so real to me. It changed me.”

Once through the courses, the recovering addict will be interviewed and her (or his) progress will be monitored to ensure she got everything out of it possible. Before she graduates from the Narconon program, well-trained supervisors ensure that she is really ready to go home. If not, she will stay and repeat any needed sections until she is certain she is ready to live a new drug-free life.

Upon finishing the Narconon program, Sandra said, “Finishing the Narconon program has been wonderful for me. I have my family back, I have myself back, and I have the things I’ve always strived for in my life. And I’m free! I don’t have to do drugs anymore.”

Narconon gives addicts back their lives, their families, their dreams. It is the first choice in effective drug rehab programs for lasting recovery.

A Family Torn Apart Finally Mends

Families torn apart, relationships destroyed—this is just one aspect of addiction to drugs or alcohol. The addict not only loses his (or her) loved ones, he loses health, vitality, goals, and dreams. The addicted person is trapped in a web of deceit, uncontrolled emotions and very often, criminality. He often will isolate himself so he doesn’t have to deal with others who are trying to get him help.

Narconon graduate Sarie

Sarie knew she was headed down a dwindling spiral, but couldn’t stop her fall. She said, “My life was miserable. I was disconnected from my family. I was doing a lot of drugs and involved with the wrong people in the wrong places and at the wrong times. It got to a point where my daughter just up and left me. She moved to my parents’ house. I didn’t know where she was. I suspected she was at my parents’ house, but I was afraid to go there. My parents were all concerned and worried but I ran as far from them as I could.”

When Sarie found Narconon Arrowhead, she found hope. She said, “When I arrived at Narconon, I walked in the door and knew I had found a place that would finally help me. They would help me to not feel the way I was feeling. The program was going to help me take care of my drug issues and my personality problems and the things that were always bothering me.”

The Narconon program is a holistic address to addiction. The various steps of treatment effectively take care of the physical and mental dependency to drugs or alcohol. With a drug-free withdrawal, a thorough sauna-based detox to flush out drug residues and life skill training, this program is one of the most successful at lasting recovery in its field.

Sarie was happy to have discovered Narconon’s effective treatment. She said, “The staff were there to help me wholeheartedly. They helped me get through withdrawal. They made me comfortable to be there. I was safe.” As she moved forward, she felt a huge change in who she was. She began to believe in herself. She could look forward to a future.

As a recovering addict moves through the program steps, he learns how to put a damaged life back together. Some of the subjects covered in life skills training are integrity, responsibility, personal values, communication, improving conditions and others. There are a series of courses that give the person reliable tools to change his outlook and let him repair the past situations in his life without remaining hung up in the past.

Sarie said, “Now that I’ve completed the program I have built a bond with my family. I have succeeded in my job. I’ve just grown and learned all sorts of things I didn’t know about myself. I’m happy to be alive and happy to be who I am. Now I live my life free and easy and I love it!”

Given the Tools to Use for a Drug-Free Life

Anyone from any walk of life can get caught up in the storm of addiction. Once they do, it is downhill from there on out. An addict’s life turns inside out. He (or she) sinks to depths he never before dreamt of. His family suffers untold upset, frightened for their child but not knowing exactly what to do.

Spencer talks about her success with the Narconon program

Spencer was an addict and had her life spiral out of control.

She describes what happened to her. “My drug use started when I was twelve or thirteen. It continued on thereafter. I chased away my family, I lost jobs. The friends that I had—I don’t think you can define those people as friends. They were just people I used drugs with. I even stole from them and they stole from me.”

Spencer never realized how much her family was suffering until she got to Narconon. Narconon is an alternative drug and alcohol rehabilitation program which addresses addiction in highly successful and effective ways.

Spencer said, “My drug use affected my family and friends dramatically. And I never realized what an effect I had on them until I got here. I was selfish. I did not realize it at the time—that I was producing any effect on them—until I came here, to Narconon. I thought about it—how many nights my Mom laid awake worrying. That was one of the big reasons I came here. I wanted my family back.”

There are three major phases to this successful recovery program. The first is the relatively tolerable withdrawal. In the withdrawal process, the recovering addict is given unique relaxation techniques and nutritional support that assist in easing the discomforts.

The next part of the program is an innovative approach to handling addiction and the physical dependency. The New Life Detoxification is a sauna-based detox which gets rid of the built-up toxic drug residues in the body. Once these residues are eliminated, the participant feels so much brighter and more alive. Many times the recovering addict will say his cravings are greatly reduced, some even say their cravings fade away completely.

The final phase is the life skills training which provides the recovering addict with the knowledge and tools necessary to live a drug-free life. Spencer describes how Narconon and the life skills training on this program make all the difference.

She said, “I have attended other rehabs in the past, and the difference between those programs and the Narconon program was that recovery didn’t last. As soon as I left the other programs, I was clean for about a week. My way of thinking just hadn’t changed compared to the way the Narconon program helped me change. Narconon gave me tools that are simple that I can use daily. I really wasn’t given those tools at other programs.”

The combination of a more tolerable withdrawal, the sauna detox, and the life skills training does much to proof the recovering addict from relapse. Lasting recovery can be found at Narconon. And Narconon is so proud and happy to heal addicted lives every day of the year, year in and year out. There is nothing as satisfying as helping addicts turn their lives around.

Spencer completed the rehab program at Narconon Arrowhead.

A Mother and Her Son’s Addiction

mother of Narconon graduate

There are few situations more heartbreaking for a mother than to have one of her children suffer from addiction. They have to watch while that person’s life falls apart and they lose everything they care about. Addiction ruins not only the life of the addict but of everyone close to him or her. The addict may be numb to it all, but the parent suffers immeasurably. Susan had to watch her son Joe go through this terrible ordeal.

Susan said that while Joe was addicted, her life was terrible. “I couldn’t function. I had to seek counseling for myself—for the anxiety. I was so afraid for Joe all the time. It consumed my whole life. I had trouble working. It wasn’t the kind of life a person should have. I was filled with fear for Joe because of the things he was doing. It affected me financially, emotionally, in every aspect of my life.”

The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is one of the best to be found, with tens of thousands of lives saved over the last five decades. Several aspects of the program combined provide a person with the ability to live a successful and drug-free life. The first is the nutritionally based withdrawal, which many say is made so much more tolerable at Narconon. An effective detox is also utilized—the Narconon New Life Detoxification—which eliminates the drug residues and other toxins that have accumulated in the fatty tissues of the body during drug use.

The final phase of the Narconon program is a series of life skills courses. These materials are unique in that instead of group therapy, the participant learns applicable tools to take back home with him and use in life. This knowledge and the tools acquired help the recovering addict maintain their sobriety. This study is beneficial in so many ways, helping the student find why he started drug use in the first place. When he understands how he got wrapped up in addiction, he can avoid making the same mistakes.

Susan said, “Joe definitely matured as a person as he went through the program. About halfway through, I saw him start to come alive and be himself. The son I used to know was coming back out. Now that he’s completed the program, he’s back working. He’s feeling good about himself.

She added, “Narconon is where you want to have your child. It is a place where they can be safe. It isn’t just addressing the drug problem. It helps the person find himself. That is the beauty of Narconon. Narconon helped Joe find himself and grow as a person. If it wasn’t for Narconon, I don’t think I would have him today.

To see a loved one come alive again and be able to live a fulfilling and drug-free life is what it is all about. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program gives the son or daughter back to himself and to his or her family. This is priceless!

Shed the Grief and Guilt of Addiction

The guilt and grief an addict knows often does not show itself to those around him. He hides it and keeps himself isolated in his misery. His existence is one long struggle, searching always for that next pill or drink. Addiction destroys far too many lives. The only solution when someone you love is addicted to drugs or alcohol is to find a drug rehab program that is successful in giving addicts lasting recovery.

Tera tells her story about recovering from addiction at Narconon

Tera was one addict who came from more than 6,000 miles away to attend one of the most successful drug rehab programs in the world. Tera needed help because she was addicted and trapped in a life of misery. She said, “When I first came to Narconon I felt a lot of guilt about what I’d done—a lot of grief. I just felt really miserable. I came here to change myself.”

After the participant arrives, he goes directly into the withdrawal phase of the program. The withdrawal itself is drug-free, as are all the other parts of the program, in that it doesn’t use substitute drugs as a treatment method. If a person requires medication-assisted detox to wean down off of certain drugs or heavy alcohol use, they would complete this before starting the drug-free withdrawal at Narconon. Using drug replacement therapy is simply replacing one addiction for another. Instead of substitute drugs, the withdrawal segment of this program utilizes nutritional supplements and plenty of one-on-one support by the staff to alleviate much of the worst of withdrawal pain and sickness. Many people say it is the most tolerable withdrawal they have ever experienced.

Once the person is through with the withdrawal, he or she does the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This is a unique detox meant to eliminate toxins and drug residues that have accumulated in the body’s fatty tissues. Once these poisons are flushed from the body, the person feels much brighter and often has a whole new outlook on life.

The next phase of the Narconon program is life skill training. This is unlike anything in other drug rehab programs. Subjects are covered such as responsibility, integrity and personal values. Exercises are done to help the person really understand the concepts that are taught and be able to apply them to life. For instance, the Objectives Course teaches a person how to communicate effectively and then they work with other students on exercises that help increase their perceptions of their current environment and ability to be in the present.

Tera was smiling when she described what she got from the Narconon drug and alcohol rehab program. “One thing that I feel from having done the program is that the things I’ve done in the past can be in the past. During the program I learned a lot about myself, a lot about other people and I regained myself really. I feel so much healthier, happier, and able to go back and create a new happy future with my family.”

Tera then added, “I would say to anyone who has a drug problem or an alcohol problem or anyone who has a family member with that problem, get in touch with Narconon and get them there!”

Parents often comment how after their son or daughter finishes the Narconon program, they are completely back to the person they love. Sons and daughters, college kids, working people, executives—people come to Narconon from all walks of life to find recovery from addiction. It is the effective drug rehab that should be the first choice in addiction recovery.

An Addict Finds a New Life

Families are torn apart when one member is addicted to drugs or alcohol. The addict is disconnected from family life, doesn’t care about helping anyone but himself. He is caught up in a trap of cravings and an intense need for that next fix or drink. Others give up on him because no matter what they do to try and help, it always seems to fail miserably. The only hope is a drug and alcohol rehab center that provides a highly successful rehab program that gives the best chance at full recovery from addiction.

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Terence

Terence was an addict and his family was torn apart. He said, “When I was addicted I felt terrible. I felt completely empty and crashed. My family—I felt horrible about all the things that I did. I lost my mother. My father was an alcoholic. I was just taking from him and never giving anything back. So it was devastating to my whole family—my sisters, my brother, everybody.”

It was not like Terence didn’t try to turn things around. He explained. “I went through several programs, about twelve or thirteen, and none of them ever worked for me. I’d get clean and then go back to using drugs and go right back to crack. I was hopeless.”

Then Terence found Narconon. This innovative approach to addiction has been successful for decades in helping addicts get off drugs or alcohol and live a happy life, fully clean and fulfilling their dreams.

After the person arrives at Narconon and meets the caring staff, he goes into the withdrawal phase of the program. Although many dread the symptoms of withdrawal, at Narconon this process is more tolerable than other withdrawals he (or she) may have experienced. The trained staff assist the person with relaxation techniques and one-on-one work to get him through it as comfortably as possible. Some say this is the most comfortable withdrawal they ever experienced.

Once through the withdrawal phase, the recovering addict soon goes onto the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This unique method of flushing out drug residues in the system helps to alleviate cravings, sometimes even eliminating them altogether.

Finally, the recovering individual begins life skill training. Here he will learn the tools necessary to maintain sobriety and create a new life without drugs. There are six courses which teach actual tools a person can use so he can be in control of his life. The student also learns how to be accountable for the misdeeds in his past addicted lifestyle, thus he is able to move forward with a clean heart.

Terence said, “Towards the end of the program, one of the steps that I went through allowed me to take responsibility for all the bad stuff I had done in my life. When I got all that stuff out, I felt great! I felt so much more aware, so much happier that I couldn’t believe it.”

He was talking about the Personal Values Course. This course provides the way to shed the guilt of the past which the addict carries forward into the present, clearing his conscience. His self-esteem is restored and he can live a life without drugs or alcohol.

Terence got his life back, and more. “When I got done with the program, I felt wonderful! Now I don’t have the cravings, I don’t have any of the problems that I had in the past. Now I know how to deal with them. I have a family now. I am actually responsible and taking care of life and taking care of my family.”

The Narconon program results in such stories every day. Those who once were addicted to drugs or alcohol and hopeless find success and a new life through Narconon.

An Addict Now Experiencing Life as it was Meant to Be

Tom talks about recovery at Narconon Arrowhead

Life is definitely not what it was meant to be when addiction has taken hold of a person. No one knows this better than Tom. He was caught in a trap which drove away his friends and family. He was plunging into a dark abyss from which he felt there was no return.

Tom said, “By the time I was in the grip of addiction, it was a dwindling spiral. It was a downward plunge. The more you wanted to quit, the more you were depressed about the state of your life and you wanted to use as a result. That was true for me. It was just impossible to quit.”

He continued, “The result of my drug abuse on my family and my close friends was distance! It created a lot of distance between close friends and family. Either I didn’t have any friends left or those I did have wanted to get as far away from me as they could.”

Tom had tried other programs but never found success at staying clean. However, then he found Narconon. He explained his feelings. “When I arrived at Narconon I was hopeful there was something different than what I had been doing to try and stay clean. Because I had tried everything out there and failed. This was my last shot at life.”

Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program which is different than other rehab programs. Using a unique sauna-based detox which comes soon after the withdrawal process, this program gets to the core causes of addiction. One of the primary causes is the physical cravings that can crop up at any time, even after months or years of successful sobriety.

A major contributing factor to cravings is the residues of past drug abuse that become lodged in fatty tissues in the body. When residual drugs are eliminated by a regimen of vitamin supplements in combination with moderate exercise and time in a low heat sauna, the recovering addict feels clean, clear-headed and often comments that cravings have been greatly reduced.

The next step after the sauna detox is life skills training. With a series of courses, the student is on a trip of self-discovery. He (or she) learns about responsibility, personal values and integrity. He discovers his weaknesses and strengths. He is shown how to improve conditions in his life as well as repair the damaged parts from an addicted lifestyle. He finds ways to restore destroyed friendships.

Tom described his wins with this part of the program. “There was a point where I began to have some insights into what was driving my addiction. I could see this program was different and I could see a light at the end of the tunnel. I realized I may not have to be an addict for the rest of my life. It was a huge moment.”

When he completed the program, everything was different. “The result of the program at its completion was the ability to have the things I hadn’t had in thirty years. That was a dream. What I could be and what I wanted to be and all the things I thought I might be as a child were once again available. I could do those things and there was nothing that could stop me. Today life is as it was meant to be. I get to experience it. I feel it. I feel sadness, I feel pain, I feel happiness, and I feel joy. I feel! It’s pretty wonderful!”

The joy of getting back in control of his life is invaluable to a person who was once addicted to drugs or alcohol. It is a whole new future in front of him. Narconon is happy to provide addicts with lasting recovery and give society back a happy and productive member.

An Addict Getting that Monkey off His Back

“Having a monkey on your back” is a phrase which has usually meant to have a nagging problem but has come to be associated closely with having a drug addiction. This makes sense because a drug addiction is very definitely a problem for the addict. An addict must satisfy those cravings and is driven mentally and physically to get more of the drug. Tony knows what having a monkey on your back means to a person’s life and survival.

Tony tells his story about recovery

He explained what happened to him when he was caught up in the trap of addiction. “I felt really terrible about all the things I had been putting my family and my friends through. I was lying. I was stealing from them. I was really down on myself.” His life was a mess and he was ignoring everything except getting the money to get more drugs and then getting the drugs and getting high.

When he found Narconon, he knew there was finally hope to get out of this seemingly never-ending cycle. Narconon provides the treatment which addresses the mental and physical aspects of addiction. Withdrawal is accomplished with the assistance of the trained staff who administer techniques that help alleviate pain and discomfort and nutritional support that make the process much more tolerable. Those going through withdrawal at Narconon often comment that it was easier than other withdrawals they had gone through.

The sauna-based detox is also a key part of the Narconon program of recovery. When drug residues get lodged in the body’s tissues, the results can be the return of cravings, even years after stopping drug use. The Narconon New Life Detoxification flushes out these residual drugs and other toxins, leaving a person feeling refreshed, alive and alert.

Tony smiled when describing the sauna portion of the program. “When I got into the sauna portion of the program is when I really started to feel good. All my feelings were coming back. I was able to laugh again. I was able to sleep. The world was good.”

The final phase of Narconon treatment consists of a study of several courses that provide the life skills necessary to fix those damaged areas of an addicted lifestyle and then to maintain a drug-free life once back home. These are unique courses of self-discovery where the student finds out where he went wrong and so can avoid the pitfalls that led to addiction. For example, one course is the Personal Values Course where the participant looks at his past misdeeds and comes to grips with his responsibility. He can then move forward with his life, free of his past.

Tony said, “There was a point later in the program where I was able to confront some of the bad things I was doing and deal with those. It just felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. Now that I’ve been off drugs, my life has been great. I no longer have that monkey on my back and I feel like I can accomplish anything I try.”

Narconon gives an addict the real chance to get rid of that very demanding problem of addiction, live a fulfilling and productive life and accomplish his dreams. Lasting recovery is what an addict needs and what Narconon can provide.

Tony completed the drug rehab program at Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma.

Giving an Addict Back His Life

An addict is oblivious to the hurt he (or she) is causing his family. The only focus of a person who is addicted is how to get more drugs or alcohol. This is a sad fact, but very true. Everything else is neglected. The person’s health suffers, relationships with friends that were years in the making simply disappear. Trust and respect are lost. In fact, an addict completely loses self-respect. However, an effective drug rehab can give this all back.

Tony Narconon Arrowhead graduate

Tony was an addict and is now aware of the pain he caused his family and friends. He said, “My drug use affected a lot of people around me, my family and my friends and everybody. It was hurting them. They were in pain seeing me acting the way I was acting. I didn’t see it but they did.” He then found the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program and was able to turn his life around.

At Narconon, an addict walks in to find he is welcome and treated with the utmost care and respect. After all, he only made a very bad choice in life, and now he is here to make things right. The first step is the withdrawal phase, where with one-on-one work with trained staff and nutritional support, he finds the process more tolerable than other withdrawals he may have done.

The next major step is a sauna-based detox. This is a program designed specifically to flush out built-up drug residues in the system. These residual drugs remain even years after drug use stops, but since they are known to activate cravings for drugs, it is very important to eliminate them from the body. The Narconon sauna detox accomplishes that through the use of sauna time, moderate daily exercise and nutritional supplements of essential vitamins and minerals.

Finally, once the person is done the Narconon New Life Detoxification, he will focus on learning skills to steer a drug-free path for the future. One part of this life skills training includes a course entitled the Objectives Course. This is an important course as a person who has been addicted to drugs or alcohol loses his grip on reality to a great degree and thus cannot communicate well or perceive the surrounding environment with clarity. The exercises and drills on this course sharpen and freshen the recovering addict’s perceptions and ability to communicate.

Tony commented, “When I finished the Narconon program, I had a better understanding of who I was, I could communicate better with everybody, I had more energy, I was happier as a person.”

Another course in the life skills training lineup includes the Ups and Downs in Life Course where the student learns to recognize characteristics of social and anti-social individuals and is thus better able to choose his associates.

Narconon is a highly successful drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that gives an addict a real chance possible of lasting recovery from addiction. This program literally gives parents back their child, and gives an addict back his life.

Tony got his life back at the Narconon Arrowhead rehab center.

An Addict Gains Back All that was Lost

An addict often will try multiple drug rehabs in order to get clean. Ideally, it would just take one trip to rehab to stay clean for good but often it seems to take more. While rehab may help a person get off drugs, that program actually needs to help him (or her) stay off drugs. Getting clean is a start but many people need sufficient life skill training to enable them to deal with upsets or problems that might otherwise send them back to substance abuse.

However, there are some drug rehab centers where an addict can go to get the most effective help.

Tracy Narconon graduate

Tracy went through other drug rehab programs looking for help. She said, “I had tried other forms of rehab and nothing was working for me. I had been kicked out of my house with my dad. I was just hopeless. When I was using crack, I lost everything. I lost the respect and trust of my family and my friends had all given up on me, after giving me chance after chance. I just lost everything.”

Then she discovered the Narconon program. This drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is an innovative approach to treating addiction, addressing all aspects of dependency on drugs or alcohol. Particularly important in the Narconon program is the detox. This is a step that follows the withdrawal phase and eliminates the residual drugs which have been stored in the body. These drug residuals are associated with the triggering of drug or alcohol cravings, so flushing them from the system can greatly reduce or even eliminate the cravings which can cause a person to relapse.

Tracy did the Narconon New Life Detoxification as part of her recovery treatment at Narconon and said, “It is wonderful not to have the cravings anymore and to wake up every day and know it’s going to be a good day and a productive day. It’s an incredible feeling.”

Following the detox, the Narconon Life Skills Courses are an education in how to live a drug-free life. Not only will the recovering addict be able to confidently face situations that would have affected him badly before, but he will also learn how to rebuild his life, relationships, and dreams. A series of courses give reliable tools and effective knowledge so the student can shed the guilt she carries with her, learn how to improve conditions in life and follow an effective guide for happy living.

Tracy completed the Narconon program and said, “My life today without the drugs and the alcohol is unbelievable. I wake up every day, I feel awesome. I know I have something to give to the world again and to my family and myself.”

Narconon heals addicted lives every day, helping addicts to get back all they lost to an addicted lifestyle. The person who finishes the Narconon program has a great chance to live drug-free for the rest of his life. Narconon is so very proud to help addicts and their families and return to the world a productive and happy member of society.

A Wife Gets Back Her Husband

Vera talks about her husbands recovery at Narconon

Vera’s story is so similar to that of other wives whose husbands have been trapped in an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Her family was wrenched apart, their business destroyed and all their savings were gone. It is a tale of horror and heartbreak. However, a happy ending is possible, which Vera eventually discovered.

Vera describes how her husband’s addiction finally was revealed. “In the middle of the night, he decides he is going to go hunting. He was gone for four days. I knew we had a problem. After four days, he called the house and wanted to come home. I asked him where he had been, and he told me he had this problem.” Her husband was addicted to crack cocaine.

She continued. “When the addiction was really bad and out of control, he was never home. He was gone all the time. He always had an excuse to be on the job, then when you would go to the job site he was never there. Then one morning I got a call from our bank saying we were overdrawn. We had had $10,000 on our account. It was gone! So I said to take something out of the savings account and they said that was gone also.”

Their four children would have nothing to do with him. Their business failed, their water was cut off. They lost everything. Then one of her friends found Narconon.

Narconon is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program which addresses addiction in most effective ways. After the person finishes the withdrawal portion of the program, he will do the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This sauna-based detox is a key part of the entire recovery process since it gets rid of the toxic accumulations of drug residues in the tissues. These residual drugs are known to contribute to the activation of drug cravings. With these gone, the person is less likely to suffer a relapse due to renewed cravings.

Another important part of recovery is the life skills training provided. With this innovative training, the recovering addict not only can discover what led to his drug use in the first place but he also learns how to rebuild relationships and get in control of his life again. One course is the Objectives Course where the student works with another student using effective exercises that improve communication skills and increase perceptions of the world around him.

Vera was impressed with the information she received on the sauna detox, but she put aside the number to Narconon for the time being. That is until she got a call from a friend who reported her husband was in the emergency room because he had overdosed. She said, “They were going to put him back out on the street. I couldn’t let that happen. So I called Narconon. One thing that impressed me the most is they wanted to talk to him. They got his information and an hour later he was on a plane.”

Vera’s husband completed the program at Narconon Arrowhead.

Her husband completed the Narconon rehab program and came home. Vera said, “He is very dependable and responsible now. If he says he is at the job site, you can go to the job site and find him there. He doesn’t lose his temper as he did before. His communication skills are outrageous. It’s phenomenal watching him work with people now. Earlier, when he was addicted, he was always screaming and hollering and throwing things. He was always angry. Now he is like a different person! It is really awesome.”

Vera said that now her family is back together. Her husband has respect back and now has a relationship with all four of the kids. Narconon accomplishes what may seem impossible to most families who have a loved one who is addicted to drugs or alcohol. But it is very possible to attain a productive and happy life without drugs with the highly successful Narconon program.

An Addict Finds a Happy Life at Last

As an addict, Victor was almost completely cut off from his loved ones. For decades, he was overcome by the major factors that prevent recovery from addiction—guilt, depression and drug cravings. Victor described his life of addiction.

Victor - Narconon Arrowhead graduate

For the best part of 40 years, he was an addict and spent many of those years homeless. He did get cleaned up for a few years and got married and had a couple of children, but eventually, he went back to the drug.

“I didn’t have any friends,” he said. “I didn’t have any family left. I didn’t have any communication with my family. They had all cut off communication with me. I had not seen or talked to my children in ten or eleven years. I had not spoken to either of my parents in eight years. I had one brother who I still could talk to. Other than that, I was completely cut off.”

He explained how he couldn’t overcome his problem. “What kept me trapped in my addiction was the guilt, the depression and the cravings that I had for the drug. I was like a hamster on a wheel, I just couldn’t stop.”

However, he found the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program with the help of his brother. Narconon gave Victor back his life.

The Narconon program is one of a kind, an effective way to beat drug and alcohol addiction, and without using drug substitute therapy. Drug substitutes simply replace one addiction with another, and this is not the best way to leave all drugs behind and achieve lasting recovery. The Narconon program includes a tolerable withdrawal, a sauna detox to eliminate drug residues built up in the body and life skills training which prepares the person for a new life without drugs.

The New Life Detoxification employs an effective combination of time in a low-heat sauna, daily exercise in moderate amounts and nutritional supplements in exact proportions to flush out toxic residues in the system. The emphasis is on residual drugs that become stored in fatty tissues. Then the recovering addict goes on to do life skills training. Here is where he (or she) discovers how to rebuild a life without drugs, even finding where they went astray and what led them to drug use so they won’t make the same mistakes again.

The courses that comprise the life skills training deal with topics that are important in a life without drugs. The subjects addressed include integrity, responsibility, and ethics. The student studies about and learns to restore his personal values and self-esteem.

Victor had this to say about the Narconon program: “I felt more alive right after the sauna portion of the program. Toward the end of the program, I felt like I had been re-humanized. I was a human being again and I was starting to function like one again.”

He added, “Prior to coming to Narconon I didn’t have a life. All I did was chase the drug. I was an angry, miserable person. Today I have a life. I’m happy, I’m free and I don’t have anything pulling me down.”

Narconon has saved many addicted lives, giving them back hope for a fulfilling future life without drugs. Families come back together, young men and women gain back control of their lives and the world looks once again like a bright and happy place. Narconon is so proud to give back to the world clean and sober people who can be contributive members of society.

Victor graduated the Narconon drug rehab program at Narconon Arrowhed in Oklahoma.

Overcoming the Horrors of Addiction

Man walking in the tunnel - horrors of addiction.

Addiction to drugs or alcohol can drive even a productive person’s life into ruin. Despite an underlying desire to leave addiction behind, the addict often feels there is no hope of going back to a drug-free and happy life. He feels stuck—trapped in addiction and overwhelmed by the cravings generated. Wayne was well familiar with the horrors of addiction. He described what drugs did to his life.

“Drugs tore me apart. I was in a downward spiral. My family considered me hopeless. I was careless with my actions. I couldn’t hold a job because of the drugs. The drugs just took me away to the point where I felt that there was going to be no way out—no return to normal civilization again. The drugs just ate me away, little by little. Soon I became nobody.”

When Wayne discovered Narconon Arrowhead, he knew this was going to be different, but he didn’t realize just how different it was going to be. He knew that Narconon treatment consisted of thorough address to both the physical and mental dependencies that take over a person’s life. However, he didn’t realize what incredible results were going to occur.

Wayne described his arrival. “When I first came to Narconon, the staff welcomed me with open arms. Everybody was just amazing. It was not something you’d expect out of a drug rehabilitation center. I had been to two other drug rehabs—28-day programs—and they were nothing like this one. Narconon has everything to offer, including happiness. Everybody here is just one big family.”

One part of the Narconon treatment program is the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This sauna-based detox is done after the recovering addict is through withdrawal. It employs nutritional supplements, daily moderate exercise and time in a sauna to flush out residual drugs and toxins from the body. Once done in its entirety, this sauna detox is known to reduce or even eliminate cravings. It cleans the body and at the same time clears the mind, often making the person feel brighter, more alive and able to think more clearly.

Wayne experienced a turning point doing the sauna detox. “There was a point where I was sitting in the sauna and I felt unbelievable. I don’t think I can explain in words about how good I felt in that moment. I just felt relieved of all the drugs I ever did. It changed my life forever. There is no high from any drug—and I’ve done just about all of them—that could make me feel as good as that moment in time in the sauna.”

He added, “Now that I’m done with the Narconon program I have my life back. My family has their son back. I’m ready to start living life on life’s terms. I’m happier than any time in my life. I feel healthier than ever before. When one can love himself, he can love everyone around them.

Narconon has the innovative program to put an addict back into control of his life. It is one of the most successful drug rehab programs in the field, shown time and time again by Wayne and thousands of others who are now recovered from drug or alcohol addiction.

An Addict Recovers and Makes His Dreams Come True

When a young person falls into the trap of addiction, it is a dreadful life both for him and his family. Parents watch as their child is overcome by cravings, forced to do things he never would normally do. His dreams and aspirations simply disappear. Wendy experienced this with her son from the age of twelve when he began his drug abuse. Her story is much too familiar to those who have a loved one who is addicted.

Mom of Narconon graduate tells her story
Wendy, mother of former addict.

Wendy said, “When my son was doing drugs, it pulled the whole family down. It pulls you down in such a way that you can’t move forward in your life. You are worried all the time that the police officer is going to come or you’re going to get a phone call from the hospital. It is constantly on your mind even though you might act as if everything is okay. You go to work every day and carry on with your life. But it is always in the back of your mind. You are worried because this is a person who you love and you want him to do well in his life.”

She added, “My son was a performer—singer, dancer. He had a wonderful personality and loved everybody. He was always thinking about other people. Since he was five years old, he had wanted to be an artist. That changed with his addiction. Drugs destroyed him. They took away his artistic ability. He lost that drive altogether. He only thought of himself. He stole from us. He stole from his sister.”

When she found Narconon Arrowhead, she knew this was the answer for her boy. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is the holistic approach to recovery from addiction. This alternative program offers a nutritionally based withdrawal, a thorough sauna-based detox which removes drug residues from the body and an education in life skills needed to rebuild a drug-free life. Wendy saw huge changes as her son did the program.

She described what she observed. “Halfway through the Narconon program, I noticed my son was speaking differently. He was saying things more clearly. He was more polite, more caring. I could see these changes happening. It was incredible. I got phone calls that he was writing music and he was performing. I was elated because this was the son I had lost when he was twelve.”

Wendy’s son is now drug-free and able to achieve the dreams that were lost in addiction. She said, “This program gave him back his life, his drive and his purpose for what he wants to do. The weight has been lifted off the whole family. We now talk. We’re friends again. This person is back and full of life and vitality.”

Narconon can accomplish lasting recovery for someone addicted and give the family back their loved one and give the addict back his or her life and dreams.
