Branson knows what addiction can do to a life. He said, “When I was addicted, I was lost without a cause. My addiction to OxyContin and meth was ruining my life. I would lie and steal on a daily basis to support my habit. I felt everybody had given up on me because I had given up on myself” Then he added, “My mom and dad are the most important people in my life, but my relationship with them was bad, to say the least. My mom would ask me when she could see her son again. I lied and stole from my dad to support my addiction but they never stopped loving me.”

An addict hitting rock bottom increases the necessity to find an effective drug rehab program. Whether it is the addict who takes action or his parents or friends, it is time to do something to turn that life around. Branson said, “One of the best things that ever happened to me was being arrested, because the day after I got out of jail, my parents started researching rehab facilities.”

His parents found Narconon and knew they found the program that was going to save their son’s life. The Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is a highly successful rehab treatment that approaches addiction from all sides. It addresses both the physical and mental dependency issues to provide lasting recovery.

Branson commented, “My first day in withdrawal, I was greeted with the nicest lady in the world. She took care of me and helped me through withdrawal. She treated me like her long lost son.” The withdrawal process is made much more tolerable through one-on-one work with caring staff. Additionally, nutritional support helps to replace essential nutrients lost in an addicted lifestyle, which calms the withdrawal symptoms.

The recovering addict then does drills and exercises in learning more effective communication. Branson said on this portion of the program he learned how to confront people and situations in his life. He said prior to doing the Narconon program—“This was one of my biggest problems before I came here. I’d keep things buried inside of me and allow them to trigger my drug use.”

Another phase of the Narconon program is at the sauna-based detoxification. This part of the recovery process is vital as it flushes out the residual toxins and drugs that come from continuous drug use. Removing residual drugs helps the recovering addict feel clearheaded, brighter and can help alleviate drug cravings.

Branson felt that the sauna detox helped him get back to the person he was before he began using drugs. Then, “After the sauna, I was able to focus on the skills I needed to learn in order to stay clean.” What Branson is referring to is the final part of the Narconon recovery program, earning life and coping skills that help the person discover why they began drug use in the first place. When the person discovers his own weaknesses and knows how to fix them, he is able to avoid making the same mistakes he made in an addicted life. This series of courses provides reliable tools and indispensable knowledge to the student and gives a recovering addict the best chance at lasting sobriety.

For more than fifty years Narconon has been giving addicts the chance for a long and happy life where he can fulfill his dreams and become who he has always wanted to be—without drugs or alcohol.
