Zero Doubt: Remaining Clean and Drug-Free

Scott T., Narconon Graduate with family

Though born in New York, I was raised in Florida, enjoying the sun and dodging the hurricanes.

I had a good childhood with sisters I was very close to. I went to school, hung out with my friends and played sports and some of my happiest memories are of playing soccer which I loved.

I started smoking marijuana at 12 years old, but by the time I was 13 I was hanging out with older kids and going to parties and doing harder drugs. I got addicted and stayed that way until I was 30. I was aware that the drug use was holding me back from achieving my true potential but I was not able to stop on my own. I lost the trust of my family, did some jail time and I consider that I lost 15 years of my life

My sister decided to help and did some online research and found Narconon. The family then got together with me and got my agreement to try it. Initially I just wanted to do the sauna detox but when I finished that part of the program I decided to do the full program. It was the best decision I ever made.

I was nervous when I first arrived at Narconon, but I was ready to change and it even turned out that I knew one of the others doing the program. The staff were great ― by the end of the program I had made friends with many of the students that were on the program and some I am still in touch with.

My graduation was a very nice validation and my father and sisters attended it to share my accomplishment with me.

I would say that one of the biggest things I got from the program was self-control. It also changed how I looked at things, how I treat people, my ability to communicate and my ability to be aware of my surroundings.

When I finished the program I looked forward to spending time with my kids, being in the moment with them as they grew up. I was able to do that and have used what I learned on the program in raising them ― teaching them the importance of responsibility and communication, of being polite and being respectful. They are great kids and doing well in life.

“I have remained clean since getting out, with never even the thought of doing drugs again.”

I have remained clean since getting out, with never even the thought of doing drugs again.

My advice to others who are dealing with drug addiction is that if you really want to get clean, do it sooner than later. Don’t waste any more of your life than you already have.
