Narconon Puebla Receives CONASAMA Recognition

Narconon Puebla is situated on 14 hectares of beautiful countryside in Huauchinango, a city located in an idyllic forest in the north of the state of Puebla, Mexico. It opened in September 2018 under the leadership of it's President, Diego Corona, and is comprised of a diverse group of professionals, physicians, and support staff from all over Mexico who have a wide range of experience in running non-profit organizations, substance abuse counseling, and interventions.

On the 3rd of March 2026 Narconon Puebla, having undergone a formal review and meeting required standards, received it's recognition from The National Commission for Mental Health and Addictions (CONASAMA) of Mexico.

What is CONASAMA?

The National Commission for Mental Health and Addictions (CONASAMA) is an administrative body under the Health Secretary of Mexico, responsible for coordinating, leading, and exercising stewardship in the fields of Mental Health and Addiction in Mexico in conjunction with public and private institutions and the citizens of Mexico to form and operate plans, programs, and strategies that strengthen the mental health population-wide. This is from the perspective of the psychosocial recovery model, fostering policies for access, free provision, and universal coverage, grounded in a framework of human rights, interculturality, intersectionality, and a gender perspectives, as well as perspectives addressing childhood, adolescence, non-discrimination, and the inclusion of older adults, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations.

What does it mean to have CONASAMA recognition?

The National Commission on Mental Health and Addictions (CONASAMA), in collaboration with the State Commissions on Mental Health and Addictions (CESMA), coordinates the Recognition or Distinction Award Program. This program aims to encourage facilities to operate in accordance with current regulations and with strict adherence to respect for the human rights of service users.

This document is awarded to a residential facility after it has undergone supervision and evaluation across various operational areas and demonstrated compliance with the minimum essential criteria for supporting individuals who use psychoactive substances, in accordance with current regulations.

The recognition is for two years, and during this time CONASAMA reserves the right to execute inspections to ensure the facility is maintaining these standards.
