Narconon Aurora is nestled in the Lombardy countryside, about 40 minutes northeast of Milan and an hour southeast from Como. The building chosen for this rehabilitation facility was once a fortress built to protect the region. It was then converted into a classic country villa and now it has been dedicated to the purpose of saving lives.

The rooms are bright with sunlight and cheerful with luminous colors. Because each person will be staying in residence until their rehabilitation is complete, there are accommodations for each person who’ll be learning how to enjoy a sober life.

Facilities for Each Phase of Recovery
The Narconon program doesn’t use any medications during recovery. Instead, each person learns from the very beginning how enjoyable a fully drug-free life can be. When a person learns how to truly enjoy their productive and sober life, they aren’t attracted to the old destructive life they left behind. This philosophy guides every facet of the Narconon program.
Inside, this villa was redesigned so it would be comfortable for each person getting through the steps of the program. The first step is a closely-supervised withdrawal from the drugs the person was taking before arrival. This step is completed in a separate building to provide a calm and protected environment.
Some people may need a medical supervised withdrawal before arriving at Narconon Aurora. But many people find this medication-free process quite tolerable. Generous doses of nutritional supplements calm the body’s symptoms. Assists, gentle procedures to relax the body and mind, help keep each person focused and oriented toward a more positive future.
When withdrawal is complete, each student makes daily visits to the sauna that was added to the villa. Here they’ll sweat out the toxins left in their bodies after months or years of alcohol or drug abuse. Soon, the whole world looks fresher and brighter. Many people finishing this step say their cravings are greatly reduced and their viewpoints are much more positive.
From there, these students arrive in the classrooms provided for life skills training. They’ll learn how to sharpen their perceptions of the world around them. This improvement alone releases them from so much of the harm done by years of drug abuse that left them dulled and numb.
Then they will learn very practical skills that will help keep them safe in their new lives. How to recover their integrity and let go of guilt, how to resolve problems and rebuild relationships, how to avoid falling back into self-destructive habits. Once they have learned how these skills work and put them to use to restore their self-respect and morale, they are ready to go home and start anew.
