I Am Probably the Happiest Person in the World

I was born and raised in the Valley (Los Angeles), and would say that I was pretty much spoiled rotten as a kid. I was a high energy adolescent, finished high school at 16 and went to college. Though I loved my mother and father, I went out to live on my own, bound and determined to prove to them that I knew everything.
I started doing drugs in the 1980’s in my early teens. In those days, cocaine was the big thing and was everywhere, and I started using that in my early teens. By my mid-teens I was doing Meth every weekend. This seemed fine until the drugs took over.
Then in 2005 the whole family got together at my mother’s place on Christmas day, which was great, however the day after Christmas my father passed away unexpectedly. I was very close to my father and when that happened I fell apart. My family could see what was happening and within a year, my mother and girlfriend found Narconon and the family sent me to Narconon Arrowhead to do the drug rehab program there.
“Narconon got me on the right path
and I never turned back.”
Going to the facility was tough at first. Narconon Arrowhead is all by itself out in a State Park far from family and friends and home and I went there with tickets in my pocket to fly back home, but my younger brother accompanied me there and turned me over to one of the Narconon staff, and I decided to stay and do the program. I figured it was time I dealt with the drugs. It was the right decision ̶ Narconon got me on the right path and I never turned back.
While I was there I worked hard to get through. I surrounded myself with people who really wanted to do the program and get better. I realized that it was up to me to choose the right people in my life. The staff were wonderful and helped show me the way to get myself through.
There are different parts to the program, but I wouldn’t name any of them as the key component. The program is a whole package and all of the parts together are what get you successfully through and off drugs. My girlfriend visited me twice while I was doing the program and thought the facility was lovely and could see that I was doing great and seeing things differently.
After graduating the Narconon program in 2006 my girlfriend and I got married and we are still together and have a great marriage. I have my own very successful business. I enjoy every bit of my life and try every day to enjoy it a bit more. I personally consider that I am probably the happiest person in the world.
My advice to others is this: tell people when you are ready to deal with the addiction – the help is there. Never give up, get in there and try your best and know that you always have another chance. If you want to make it you will. And getting your life back is awesome.
