20 Years Sober: Narconon Taught Me How to Rebuild My Life, Not Just Quit

I was born in Kansas City and have lived there all my life. I went to school and was very involved in sports; captain of the football team, played baseball and wrestled from the age of 5 until I was 16. Like most Midwest boys, I hunted and fished. I had an active, full life.
I started drinking socially in 7th grade, then in 9th grade started smoking pot, which led to LSD, mushrooms, meth, and cocaine before graduating high school.
In 2004, I got divorced, and my wife moved away with my daughter, which was devastating. Then my father got killed in a construction accident, which also hit me very hard, and the drinking and crack cocaine took over. If I were to describe my life at that time, I would say simply “barely hanging on.”
I knew I had to get off the drugs or die, and I had no intention of dying, so I made the decision to get off the drugs. I found out about Narconon, which had a program that made sense to me, and in 2005 I arrived at Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma ready to rehabilitate myself.
I did the program, and I will not pretend it was easy, but I stayed with it, got through it, and got off the drugs.
I have not had a drink since the day I arrived at Narconon.
A major plus of the Narconon program is that it does more than get you off drugs; it teaches you things you can use in life. I studied these skills well, and I put this to use and have never looked back or used drugs since.
“I am now a superintendent of a company, bought my own house in 2016, and am very close to my sister and her daughters.”
I am now a superintendent of a company, bought my own house in 2016, and am very close to my sister and her daughters. I work hard and take advantage of my drug-free life and success to experience the good things in life and to give this to others. In fact, I spoil my nieces rotten because I want to show them what standard of life they should aspire to.
I would tell others who have a substance abuse problem that it is possible to be drug-free and be in control of your life. And I would tell them I’m always here if they need me. Never give up. You can get your life back.

Danielle
Danielle grew up with a grandmother who, despite being sober for decades, still called herself an alcoholic. This left quite an impression on Danielle and inspired her to dedicate her life to helping others break free from the grip of addiction. With over eight years of experience at Narconon, she has personally helped hundreds of individuals struggling with addiction achieve sobriety. Her passion for saving lives is what drives her work today, as she remains dedicated to helping others live drug-free lives through the Narconon program.
Narconon Worked for Me—And It Saved My Life
I completed the program and have been clean ever since, and I know that my brother is proud that he was able to help me. And he should be; he and Narconon saved my life.... You need to take the time to fully commit. Do the program. Absorb what you’re learning. If you do that, you can go home clean.
Two Decades of Freedom: Life After 30 Years in Hell
I started the program July 4th, 2004 and I have been sober since. This was a very fitting date — I consider that by going to Arrowhead and doing the program, I had claimed my independence from drugs.
