Narconon Puts Out New Educational Resources for Recovery Month

informationIn recognition of the fact that October is National Substance Abuse Prevention Month, Narconon has launched an online hub with materials that parents, educators, law enforcement and others can use in their efforts to help keep children and teenagers off drugs. Prevention is the most effective approach to handling the problems of drug abuse and addiction in our society, and the message of Substance Abuse Prevention Month is one of the most important that can be spread in today’s world. Narconon offers powerful solutions to treating addiction and helping people make a fresh start in life, but for every person they help to recover, others are daily falling into the trap of addiction, so it is clear that if we are to win the war on drugs, it will be through prevention.

The new Narconon National Substance Abuse Prevention Month offers valuable resources for educating young people about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, with more than a dozen sections featuring rich media that can be used to educate one on one, in classrooms or in other settings. Some of the highlights include:

  • A set of 18 videos produced for young people, with brief but powerful explanations of various facets of the problem of drug abuse, ranging from the reasons why people get started on drugs, how drugs work, and how users get hooked
  • A booklet, 10 Things Parents May Not Know About Marijuana, and another, 10 Things Parents May Not Know About Prescription Drug Abuse, both of which are jam-packed with information to dispel common misconceptions about these drugs and to arm readers with the facts
  • Detailed descriptions of the various side effects and long term health risks associated with commonly used drugs
  • A guide, How to Talk to Children About Drugs, which teaches parents how they can communicate with their children in age-appropriate ways about drugs and how they can make sure that they get the message across so it sticks

Tools for Drug Prevention

The Narconon National Substance Abuse Prevention Month hub has tools for anyone who is concerned about keeping drugs out of the hands of a family member, friend or others who are at risk. It is being offered as a lifeline to a society in need of effective solutions in the face of the onslaught of drugs and alcohol and the serious problems they cause for everyone.

Narconon President Comments on Prevention Month Tools

Narconon President Clark Carr commented on the launch of the Prevention Month hub, saying that “parents, teachers and young people all deserve to know all they can about drugs and the harm that can result. They need this information to make the choice to stay sober. The pressure on a young person to use drugs or drink can be subtle but also pervasive. It requires certainty about the downside of drug use for a person to elect to stay sober when those around them are getting high. That’s why we offer this information, free whenever possible.” Carr and his colleagues at Narconon are working diligently to make sure that everyone in our society has the information they need to make the right choices about drugs and alcohol, because armed with this information, few would decide to place themselves at risk of addiction.

With powerful educational tools like the new Prevention Month web page, Narconon actively strives to carry home the goals of prevention for a better future for all of us.
