Proclamation
"Building a Drug Free Future Day"
September 25, 1993
WHEREAS, Alcohol and Drug Abuse is a serious problem in our society to the degree that one out of five adult Americans has an alcohol or drug problem that requires treatment; and
WHEREAS, for twenty-six years the world wide Narconon network has been a leader in the fight against drug and alcohol abuse through its education and rehabilitation services; and
WHEREAS, there are many valiant individuals and groups in the Greater Bay Area that are working to rid our society and the problem of alcohol and drug abuse; and
WHEREAS, the activities of these individuals and groups are worthy of recognition; and
WHEREAS, Narconon of Northern California will bestow Awards of Merit to certain of these individuals and groups on September, 25, 1993;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, OSCAR RIOS, Mayor, of the City of Watsonville, in the State of California, do hereby proclaim September, 25, 1993 as "BUILDING A DRUG FREE FUTURE DAY" in the City of Watsonville and urge all citizens to join in the cause to ensure the well-being of this and all future generations by taking a stand against drug and alcohol abuse.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Watsonville to be affixed this twenty-fifth day of September nineteen hundred and ninety-three.
