San Jose, California Proclamation

Proclamation
WHEREAS: Alcohol and Drug abuse is a serious problem in our society to the degree that one out of five adult Americans has an alcohol or drug problem that requires treatment; and
WHEREAS: For twenty-six years, the worldwide Narconon network has been a leader in the fight against drug and alcohol abuse through its education and rehabilitation services; and
WHEREAS: There are many valiant individuals and groups in the Greater Bay Area that are working to rid our society of the problem of alcohol and drug abuse; and
WHEREAS: On September 25, 1993, Narconon of Northern California will bestow Awards of Merit to special individuals and groups who deserve the honor and recognition;
NOW, THEREFORE I, Susan Hammer, Mayor of the City of San Jose, along with my colleagues on the City Council, do hereby proclaim September 25, 1993 as
BUILDING A DRUG FREE FUTURE DAY
In the City of San Jose, and we urge all citizens to join in the cause to ensure the well-being of this and all future generations by taking a strong personal stand against alcohol and drug abuse.
