There are approximately 160 local residents employed at the facility inside the Arrowhead State Park in Canadian, Oklahoma.
As well as being a major employer in the area and supporting local businesses by using their products and services, Narconon Arrowhead staff and volunteers participate in community events like the Oklahoma State Prison Rodeo, holiday parades, job fairs and similar events. During the holiday season particularly, Narconon Arrowhead staff and volunteers help those who are less fortunate with food and clothing drives and donations. Narconon staff also participate in the local softball league for fun and to promote the drug-free message.
In its 22 years in Oklahoma, Narconon Arrowhead has saved more than 10,000 lives that could have been lost to prison, death or complete destruction due to addiction. Most of these people come from surrounding states but many come from every corner of the US and a few even come from other countries.
Narconon Arrowhead reserves a number of rehab program beds for a scholarship program for Oklahoma residents. Each year, as many as 48 people have the chance to recover from addiction through this scholarship program.
Narconon Arrowhead staff have been helping local corporations stay drug-free by providing drug education classes to their employees.
Narconon Arrowhead has been sending staff into schools to provide drug education classes for many years. In an average year, 50,000 students will be reached with the anti-drug message. The curriculum taught by Narconon Arrowhead has been proven to reduce the incidence of substance abuse among the students who receive the classes. It doesn't just change minds, it reduces drug abuse. Narconon Arrowhead staff also participate in events for children such as holiday parties for disadvantaged children and fundraising for disadvantaged youth.
