The City of Seaside California Issues a Proclamation to Narconon

Proclamation

WHEREAS, the Narconon Program was founded in 1966 by William Benitez, heroin addict and an inmate at Arizona State Prison, who read a book by Humanitarian and Author, L. Ron Hubbard, which helped Mr. Benitez with the technology to start the Narconon Rehabilitation Program; and

WHEREAS, the Narconon Program is an International Network of Rehabilitation Centers with 120 Centers in over 44 countries and is a drug-free approach to rehabilitation. It does not use drugs to solve or mask the problems caused by substance abuse. Instead, it uses vitamins and nutritional supplements as an important component of its delivery; and

WHEREAS, Narconon Vista Bay has three facilities serving Central and Northern California and has been named the best Narconon Center in the world two years in a row; and

WHEREAS, Narconon Vista Bay has been a huge contributor to our communities bringing forth outreach programs and activities, including the Drug Education Program, with visits to many schools in the Central Coast, including Monterey County; and

WHEREAS, this year Narconon Vista Bay is celebrating “Recovery Month” and 20 graduates have completed the Drug Rehabilitation Program and are ready to start their new drug/crime free and productive lives.

NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Ralph Rubio, Mayor of the City of Seaside, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim September as “Recovery Month” and award this Proclamation to Narconon Vista Bay for their contributions to the Central Coast.
