Residents Attend Open House

“There’s nobody I can think of that couldn’t gain from this program,” stated Carol Harwell, public relations person for Narconon, at an open house held recently at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Arnold.

A small group of area residents attended the open house and learned how Narconon, meaning no narcotics, or absence of stupor, is operating in their community.

The program consists of a series of self-help lectures which helps a person, or drug user, to confront the things in his life that keep him from being successful. The course is run by trained supervisors, and students come mostly from referrals from the court, from ministers or from friends.

Various training routines provide ways that a person can practice communication to enable him to face up to life and gradually learn to handle himself.

“The purpose is to get a person able and willing to meet another person,” Ms. Harwell said. “You’d be amazed at the change a person achieves through this training program.”

“I’m totally convinced that this program can help anyone,” she continued. The course is designed for anyone, but particularly one with a drug program.

The criteria for the course is that a person must want to help himself.
