WHEREAS, the United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is a special event in that government, non-profit agencies and betterment groups join forces across the world to take a stand against drugs; and

WHEREAS, Narconon was founded in the Arizona State Prison by William Benitez, and is an International Network of 120 centers in over 49 Countries, and is a drug-free approach to drug rehabilitation where many clients come in with various medications and/or illegal drug addictions, and leave the program as drug-free and contributing members of society, without the need to use drugs or prescription medications to remain drug-free and happy; and

WHEREAS, the Narconon Program maintains an extremely high long-term success rate by the use of vitamins and minerals along with a full body detoxification which is designed to rid the drugs and toxins from the body of an addicted person, while supplying them with life skills and coping mechanisms to address, deal with and overcome struggles and problems in life; and

WHEREAS, for the last 3 years running, Narconon Vista Bay, with 3 facilities located in Watsonville, Placerville and South Lake Tahoe was named the # 1 most expanding Narconon organization in the world, and was responsible for completely rehabilitating literally hundreds of addicts and in doing so, helped thousands of people including family members and employers; and

WHEREAS, Narconon Vista Bay also delivered free drug education lectures to 11,000 school children, and have volunteered hundreds of hours in various community activities including: Watsonville Sober Grad Nite, Mesa Village Carnival, National Night Out, Live Oak Carnival, Santa Cruz County Fair, and many more;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Luis A. Alejo, Mayor of the City of Watsonville, do hereby commend Narconon Vista Bay for their dedication to helping thousands overcome their addictions and empowering these individuals to excel in all areas of their lives. I urge all citizens to join in the cause to ensure the well-being of our current and future generations by taking a strong personal stand against alcohol and drug abuse.
