Santa Clara California Proclamation

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, alcohol and drug abuse is a serious problem in our society to the degree that one out of five adult Americans has an alcohol or drug problem that requires treatment; and

WHEREAS, for twenty-six years the world wide Narconon network has been a leader in the fight against drug and alcohol abuse through its education and rehabilitation services; and

WHEREAS, there are many valiant individuals and groups in the Greater Bay Area that are working to rid our society and the problem of alcohol and drug abuse; and

WHEREAS, the activities of these individuals and groups are worthy of recognition; and

WHEREAS, Narconon of Northern California will bestow Awards of Merit to certain of these individuals and groups on September, 25, 1993.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EVERETT N. SOUZA, by virture of the authority vested in me as Mayor, and on behalf of the entire City Council, do hereby proclaim Saturday, September 25, 1993, as

“BUILDING A DRUG FREE FUTURE DAY”

in our city and urge all citizens to join in the cause to ensure the well-being of this and all future generations by taking a stand against drug and alcohol abuse.
