PROCLAMATION
BUILDING A DRUG FREE FUTURE DAY
SEPTEMBER 25, 1993
WHEREAS, the abuse of drugs in our society has wreaked unbelievable social havoc in our streets, schools, jobs, families and public and personal relationships; and
WHEREAS, drug related crime has risen so sharply that our personal safety and financial survival of our country are in real jeopardy; and
WHEREAS, there are many valiant individuals and groups in the Greater Bay Area that are working to rid our society of the problems associated with alcohol and drug abuse and
WHEREAS, Narconon of Northern California will bestow Awards of Merit to certain of these individuals and groups on September 25, 1993 for their courageous efforts to take back what drug abusers have robbed from them for too long;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JUDY BUCHAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council, hereby proclaim SEPTEMBER 25, 1993, AS
BUILDING A DRUG FREE FUTURE DAY
in Redwood City and urge all citizens to join in the cause to ensure the well-being of this and all future generations by taking a stand against drug and alcohol abuse.
