LSD, A DANGEROUS DRUG RETURNS

LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) is one of the world's most powerful hallucinogenic drugs popularized by the 1960's drug culture, later losing popularity because of its many negative effects.

An annual survey conducted by the University of Michigan of 50,000 8th, 10th and 12th graders nationwide this year has shown a significant rise in the use of this dangerous drug, causing experts in the field of substance abuse to be quite concerned.

The principal investigator, Lloyd D. Johnston, stated that LSD's new-found popularity is "a prime example of generational forgetting. Today's youngsters don't hear what an earlier generation heard," he said, "that LSD causes bad trips, flashbacks, schizophrenia, brain damage, chromosomal damage and so on."

This drug drastically alters all of one's senses and perceptions and basically puts a person into a state of insanity, often accompanied by paranoia and fear.

Even those who have advocated the use of LSD for medical experimentation have stated that it is not a party drug and those who use it for this purpose can get into trouble with this drug.

Underground, or "rave," parties are where LSD use is occurring along with other stimulants and hallucinogens such as "ecstacy," amphetamines, laughing gas, and other drugs.

It should be pointed out that music, dancing, and popular forms of dress are a form of expression and not negative in themselves. There can be drug-free raves as there can be drug-free forms of all expression and activity.

It is true that drugs can cause sensations that people like along with all the negative or bad effects, but what is so important to understand is that the best sensations are natural, not chemical.

Enjoy music, dancing, and styles of dress drug-free.

Youth are our future. History has shown that millions of those who experiment with and use alcohol and other drugs do not easily recover from their addictions.
