An Addict Finds a New Life

Families are torn apart when one member is addicted to drugs or alcohol. The addict is disconnected from family life, doesn’t care about helping anyone but himself. He is caught up in a trap of cravings and an intense need for that next fix or drink. Others give up on him because no matter what they do to try and help, it always seems to fail miserably. The only hope is a drug and alcohol rehab center that provides a highly successful rehab program that gives the best chance at full recovery from addiction.

Narconon Arrowhead graduate Terence

Terence was an addict and his family was torn apart. He said, “When I was addicted I felt terrible. I felt completely empty and crashed. My family—I felt horrible about all the things that I did. I lost my mother. My father was an alcoholic. I was just taking from him and never giving anything back. So it was devastating to my whole family—my sisters, my brother, everybody.”

It was not like Terence didn’t try to turn things around. He explained. “I went through several programs, about twelve or thirteen, and none of them ever worked for me. I’d get clean and then go back to using drugs and go right back to crack. I was hopeless.”

Then Terence found Narconon. This innovative approach to addiction has been successful for decades in helping addicts get off drugs or alcohol and live a happy life, fully clean and fulfilling their dreams.

After the person arrives at Narconon and meets the caring staff, he goes into the withdrawal phase of the program. Although many dread the symptoms of withdrawal, at Narconon this process is more tolerable than other withdrawals he (or she) may have experienced. The trained staff assist the person with relaxation techniques and one-on-one work to get him through it as comfortably as possible. Some say this is the most comfortable withdrawal they ever experienced.

Once through the withdrawal phase, the recovering addict soon goes onto the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This unique method of flushing out drug residues in the system helps to alleviate cravings, sometimes even eliminating them altogether.

Finally, the recovering individual begins life skill training. Here he will learn the tools necessary to maintain sobriety and create a new life without drugs. There are six courses which teach actual tools a person can use so he can be in control of his life. The student also learns how to be accountable for the misdeeds in his past addicted lifestyle, thus he is able to move forward with a clean heart.

Terence said, “Towards the end of the program, one of the steps that I went through allowed me to take responsibility for all the bad stuff I had done in my life. When I got all that stuff out, I felt great! I felt so much more aware, so much happier that I couldn’t believe it.”

He was talking about the Personal Values Course. This course provides the way to shed the guilt of the past which the addict carries forward into the present, clearing his conscience. His self-esteem is restored and he can live a life without drugs or alcohol.

Terence got his life back, and more. “When I got done with the program, I felt wonderful! Now I don’t have the cravings, I don’t have any of the problems that I had in the past. Now I know how to deal with them. I have a family now. I am actually responsible and taking care of life and taking care of my family.”

The Narconon program results in such stories every day. Those who once were addicted to drugs or alcohol and hopeless find success and a new life through Narconon.
